The Eden Prairie School Board discussed how to move schools to a K-6 alignment during a work session Thursday.
Superintendent Melissa Krull said that two early decisions had been made.
Today’s fourth-graders will not be sent to Oak Point in the fall, then back to their elementary schools the next year.
The fourth-graders are to go to Oak Point in the fall and stay there for sixth grade, Krull said.
Nominations for this year’s Eden Prairie Schools Legacy Awards are due March 19. The awards were established in 2008 by the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) to honor outstanding employees, students, volunteers and alumni.
“The Legacy Awards will honor individuals who have contributed to the success and reputation of Eden Prairie Schools,” according to a news release.
Awards will be presented for:
* Teacher of the Year
* Staff Employee of the Year
* Alumnus of the Year
* Volunteer of the Year
In order to pay its bills this session, the state has turned to school districts to sustain a funding delay –in Eden Prairie’s case it’s a delay of $10.8 million in aid.
Imagine a situation where you’d receive your paychecks for March and April at the end of May. If you were in Eden Prairie’s position, you’d plan to cover the bills with credit, which is just what the School Board members allowed during last week’s School Board meeting. During that meeting, the board voted for a resolution that would allow the district to take out a line of credit with Associated Bank.
The Relay For Life of Eden Prairie committee invites the community to its 2010 Relay For Life Kickoff. The Kickoff will be held from 6:30 to 7:30p.m. on March 29 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive.

As he prepares to leave the nest, Charlie Crocker reflects on the busiest job at EPHS
They said, as long as he was cool with wearing tights, “I could get the job,” said Charlie Crocker. That was three years ago, and since that time, Crocker has dutifully donned the Eagle suit for game after game at Eden Prairie High School. Life as the Eagle mascot might be one of the busiest gigs at EPHS, but it's something that Crocker, now a senior, has set his sights on since he was a little kid.
“I’ve always wanted to be the mascot.”
Tianyu Tao, grade 12, and Anqi Wang, grade 11, both attending the International School of Minnesota in Eden Prairie, achieved a high score on a recent mathematics contest. The next exam is in mid-March. According to a news release, “these exams are a way to challenge high school students with exceptional mathematical ability and to recognize those who perform well.
The top scoring students in the AIME move on to the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO), a worldwide system of national mathematics competitions.”
