Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Minnesota Preservation Awards, a program run by the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota. The Preservation Awards recognizes outstanding projects, groups and individuals that contribute to Minnesota’s preservation accomplishments. From movie theaters to lakeside cottages, office buildings to historic roadside structures, these awards showcase efforts both simple and grand to preserve Minnesota’s historic resources.
Nominations, due August 15, 2008, can focus on preservation projects or worthy efforts of communities, groups and individuals, in the areas of: adaptive reuse, restoration/rehabilitation, addition/expansion, archaeological site/protection, education/interpretation/outreach, career achievement, advocacy, stewardship, community effort and young preservationist.
Awards are given not on the basis of size of investment, but rather on the merit the project provides to its community.
Honorees of the 24th annual awards program will receive special recognition, as the awards ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with the State Historic Preservation Conference held this September in Northfield, Minnesota.
