Okay, even as a casual viewer of American Idol, I've thought about what my song would be if I auditioned. The key to it is not to use your favorite song, but, a song that fits your strengths. For instance, I can sing in tune, but I've got a pretty weak voice. I go sour pretty fast with the power ballads. Instead, I'd do best with a quiet, slow song. I pick Carole King's "You've got a Friend" or maybe "It's too late." 

I think I could hack my way through that.
