The news for Erik Paulsen's campaign keeps getting worse. Today, it was reported on Minnesota Public Radio that the National Republican Congressional Committee cancelled another batch of TV ads for Erik Paulsen.
NRCC cancels another week for Paulsen, cuts back on Bachmann's time too.
Posted at 1:03 PM on October 10, 2008 by Tom Scheck (2 Comments)The National Republican Congressional Committee has pulled another week of scheduled ad time for Republican candidate Erik Paulsen. The NRCC canceled ad time scheduled to run between October 21st through October 27th at KSTP, WCCO and KARE. That means the NRCC will only run time in the week leading up to the election for Paulsen instead of the three weeks initially reserved.
Paulsen is running for the open seat in Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District. DFLer Ashwin Madia and I-P candidate David Dillon are the other candidates in the race (which is one of the most competitive in the country). There are several groups running ads in support of Madia (which rip Paulsen). They are the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Patriot Majority and Health Care America. (rest of story, here: MPR [1])
Erik Paulsen started his campaign by announcing he had, and I quote: "“…years of working in bipartisan fashion, across the aisle, to get results in the business world and in the Minnesota legislature.” (MnBlue) [2]
Ladies and Gentlemen, Erik Paulsen didn't work in a "bi-partisan" manner in the State House; Erik Paulsen never would have risen to Majority Leader in the Republican Party by working in a "bi-partisan" manner. Erik Paulsen started his campaign with an absurd claim, and has ran his campaign in an absurd manner ever since.
The National Republican Congressional Committee recognizes this; they analyze polls and use them to determine where to spend scarce campaign resources. For the second time in two weeks, the National Republican Congressional Committee has cancelled ads on behalf of Erik Paulsen, because quite frankly, they don't see Erik Paulsen winning this race. If they did, they'd be spending the money. They don't; they aren't.
Of course, even when a team is behind, the game plays until the clock runs out - in this case, November 4th. Right now, Team Paulsen is behind for the old fashioned reason - they earned it.
