“Temporary Living Center (TLC) in Eden Prairie, an extended stay facility for girls and young women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction,” is a site on this year’s Pond and Landscape Tour June 26-27. The garden is at 7170 Bryant Lake Drive.
According to a news release, “The garden was installed by local contractor R.J. Pruner and Landscapes, with help of donations from several companies that provided materials and labor. The first two phases of the garden are now complete. Officials at the TLC hope to add more features to the garden as additional donations are received.”
The garden includes: 12 large outcropped steps, representing the 12 steps of recovery; a large stone bench and picnic tables that allow for the young women and their families to gather their thoughts and relax; a fire pit; winding paths and peaceful flowing streams. Plantings and elements of the garden are symbolic: several varieties of hosta symbolize how every human has unique characteristics that make them special; boulders lining the path illustrate the obstacles people face and can eventually overcome; 12 smaller steps leading upward symbolize a person in recovery helping another person, the release said.
