Kathy Veurink has announced she is seeking the Republican endorsement for the District 42B State House of Representatives seat, currently held by Erik Paulsen, who is running for the Third District Congressional seat.
According to a news release, Veurink lives and works in Eden Prairie as director of guest and member services at Grace Church. Previously, she was regional director for the Summit Foundation, “a nonprofit that raised support for children with cancer.” She is married and has a 9-year-old daughter who attends school in Eden Prairie.
In the news release, she said, “her experience with nonprofit organizations and their ability to help people with needs, along with her personal encounters of how well governmental programs work or fail, will serve her well as a legislator to streamline these programs, resulting in higher quality and lower cost.”
According to the news release, she plans to, “Develop a more business-friendly environment to grow more jobs, promote stronger local and parental control in the schooling of children, make health care more affordable by promoting an open market to expand consumer choices and contain costs, and shape a long-term transportation plan to fund, build and maintain roads and bridges.”
