Eden Prairie resident Bill Austin of the Starkey Hearing Foundation appeared on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Sunday.
The show built its 100th home in Minnetonka. In addition to the new home, the Swenson-Lee family received $200,000 toward the college education of the children they took in. Vicki and Eric Swenson took in her sister’s four children after their mother was shot by an ex-boyfriend. The Swensons now also have four children of their own.
Austin, who has appeared on the show before, doubled the donation from $100,000 to $200,000 during the show.
“What I have is a scholarship fund that I wanted to start for the family,” he said.
“It was the biggest relief,” Vicki Swenson said on the show. “I felt so incredibly happy.”
