City officials are just days away from selling new membership to the soon-to-be-improved Eden Prairie Community Center.

City Manager Scott Neal told the Eden Prairie (A.M.) Rotary Club that the membership sale will likely begin in November, in advance of the March completion date for the Community Center expansion project.

That’s because some of the new and improved facilities will be done before the March target, he told Rotarians at their weekly meeting. For example, the building’s expanded fitness center will be open around Jan. 1. Users will definitely see an upgrade in the fitness center, which among other pieces of equipment will have 15 treadmills and 15 elliptical machines, according to Neal.

The Community Center expansion project also involves a number of other amenities. Also being built are a gymnasium, a third ice rink, a child-care center and a teen center. Meeting room and office expansions are also a part of the project approved by voters.

You can find out more about Community Center project on the city’s Web site, www.edenprairie.org [1]. Look for the “Community Center Construction” button.
