Tony Szczepaniak’s charity cribbage tournament will benefit the ABC Foundation this year. In addition, the event is accepting donations of food items for PROP.
Join Szczepaniak for men’s night at Eden Wood Center, 6350 Indian Chief Road in Eden Prairie, from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Friday, March 19. The tournament starts promptly at 7 p.m.
The cost benefits the foundation. Cost at the door is $30. Dinner will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. March 20 at Petco, in Eden Prairie. Petco is located off Highway 212 and Singletree Lane. CSHS is without its own building and all pets are housed in foster care.
Dogs 3 months to 8 years will be there. Some of the dogs include: Maltese, Yorkie, English setter, yellow and black lab mix, pointer, wolfhound mix, Australian cattle dog, poodle, bull terrier and Heinz 57 mixes.

Eden Prairie residents are invited to the 29th Annual Eden Prairie Foundation Ball, which will take place on March 27, 2010, at the Minnetonka Southwest Marriott. The theme for this year’s event is “One Enchanted Evening.”
“And this is definitely not your grandfather and grandmother’s quiet, dour gala. This is a ‘let your hair down’ and ‘boogie the night away’ event that celebrates the best about living and working in Eden Prairie,” according to a news release.
Fare For All Express, a cooperative food purchasing opportunity open to anyone, is set to offer a variety of food packages from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Eden Prairie United Methodist Church, 15050 Scenic Heights Road.
A variety of food packages will be available including vegetarian and holiday packages.

PROP is encouraging donations in March as part of the Minnesota FoodShare Annual Campaign, according to a news release. PROP depends on the campaign to stock shelves into the summer months. The more food and cash PROP receives in March, the more cash benefit is received from Minnesota FoodShare.

David Peterson of Chanhassen is scheduled to head to Papua, New Guinea, this spring with MIA Hunters, a Minnesota charity that leads recovery missions to gather information about World War II MIAs.

Eleven women, including several from Eden Prairie, will travel to Tanzania to bolster Peace House Africa’s mission

This one was not a tough sell for Eden Prairie real estate agent Colleen Larson.
Larson has been an active volunteer in a variety of projects for years in Eden Prairie. But when the opportunity came to take on a larger project, she jumped at it.
“I wanted to do something bigger,” Larson said.
On Oct. 5, the small private airplane piloted by Robert Fiske crashed in the Cardinal Creek neighborhood.
Robert Schmidt was first on the scene. That was the first time Fiske and Schmidt met.
Tuesday, at the Eden Prairie City Council meeting, was the second.
On Tuesday, Eden Prairie honored ordinary citizens who did extraordinary things.
There were two plane crashes in the city last year, on Aug. 12 and Oct. 5, and both saw heroic responses from the neighbors and business people who were first at the scene.
