According to a news release, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol located a body that is believed to be that of a man reported missing in Deephaven.
Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, a Water Patrol diver found the body of a deceased male in about six to eight feet of water in St. Louis Bay on Lake Minnetonka.
"A 49-year old Deephaven resident had been spending the night on a boat with friends and one relative. His boat was tied to another boat a few feet away from a dock. When others in the group awoke in the morning, they discovered the man was missing," the release said. "At 9:10 a.m., they called 9-1-1. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol and Deephaven Police responded and began a search on land and on the water."
The Water Patrol searched the water using sonar equipment. Deputies investigated the shoreline on foot. Six divers searched under boats on the dock. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter searched from the air. After approximately seven hours of searching, the body was located about 20 yards from the missing man’s boat. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.
