Eden Prairie police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday morning at Green Mill, 8266 Commonwealth Drive. Three male suspects intercepted the restaurant’s manager in the parking lot at 2:40 a.m. Nov. 4 and forced the manager back inside to open the safe.
Two other staff members were on the scene but no staff was injured during the robbery. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a television from the restaurant, then fled the scene in the manager’s car. The police recovered the car in St. Louis Park the next morning. According to Sgt. Bill Wyffels, two of the suspects had handguns. A similar robbery has recently occurred in Minnetonka, according to Wyffels.
Eden Prairie Police rarely see robberies of restaurants in the city. The most recent one occurred back in April, with a robbery at an Eden Prairie Subway. Anyone with any information about the case should call the EPPD tip line at 952-949-8477.

Back to page topI'm curious as to why it took five days for an armed robbery to be reported. If the EPPD did not notify the press (for whatever reason) a commenter left the Eden Prairie News a tip on Friday that wasn't followed up on until today.

If a similar robbery recently occurred in Minnetonka, then this may be an indication of a spree. People need to be made aware, so that they can take extra precautions to protect themselves. I hope that in the future the EPPD and the Eden Prairie News do a better job of informing the public of crime within the city.
