The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants for a vacancy on the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board, due to expiration of a term of office on Sept. 29 for LuAnn Tolliver. Tolliver is seeking reappointment. A Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board member may not be a public officer of the county, state or federal government and must be a resident of the district. The district is located in southern and western Hennepin County and includes parts of Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield.
The district’s five-member board develops a comprehensive plan for conservation of natural resources and coordinates management of water and related land resources covering an area approximately 50 square miles that drains into Nine Mile Creek, according to a news release. It is helpful for board members to have a background in water conservation, farming, development, law, engineering, environment or public administration. Meetings are held about once a month. Members serve three-year terms.
The deadline for application is Sept. 10, with interviews to be held at the County Board Libraries, Technology and General Government Committee Sept. 15.
