There’ll be a heaping helping of old-fashioned fun in the 29th annual Eden Prairie Sunbonnet Day, set for Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Riley Jacques Farmstead, 9100 Riley Lake Road.
The free Eden Prairie festival features music, food, kids’ games, pony and wagon rides and much more.
Events are scheduled from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., with a special dedication of the restored Dorenkemper house planned for 1 p.m. The Eden Prairie Historical Society will give tours of the home – one of Eden Prairie’s oldest – in the afternoon.
Entertainment starts at 12:30 p.m. with Dixieland band music. Charlie Maguire, Minnesota’s Sesquicentennial Troubadour, will sing and play songs about Minnesota in the barn, starting at 1:30 p.m. He’ll be followed by storyteller Bob Gash at 3 p.m. and then the Card Board Radio at 3:45 p.m.
There will also be a petting zoo, pony rides, a horse drawn wagon, fresh produce for sale, costume and coloring contests, pumpkin and jellybean guessing games, a cake walk, cider making and several old-fashioned games.
Boy Scout Troop 695 will have concessions for sale.
