Cable show features local residents

“Music and Poetry in the Midsummer Gardens,” a film by Lisa Rolf of Inchworm Productions, will be broadcast by Southwest Community Television Channel 15 in the cities of Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Richfield at 6:30 p.m. Sept 8, 10:30 p.m. Sept. 10, 5 p.m. Sept. 12, 1 p.m. Sept. 13, 10 p.m. Sept. 15 and 9 p.m. Sept. 19.
“The 30-minute film features Minneapolis flute soloist, and recent McKnight Foundation Award winner, Linda Chatterton, along with other adults and teens from Eden Prairie, Edina and Eagan, performing musical selections or reading poetry,” according to a news release. It was filmed at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, and the Caponi Art Park, 1205 Diffley Road in Eagan, as well as various private local gardens in Eden Prairie and Edina.
Eden Prairie resident David Durkee performs a selection from Shakespeare’s Richard II. Eden Prairie High School seniors Hillary Rolf and Margaret Krause perform musical selections in the film. Sophomore Brian Rolf of Eden Prairie High School and sophomore Alex Hsiao of Eagle Ridge Charter School in Eden Prairie are the cameramen. Tina Hsiao, Eden Prairie eighth-grader who attends the FAIR school, reads her original poem, “Love, a Rose.” Eagan seniors Sam Callahan and Stephen Seaberg of the Minnesota Youth Symphony perform a trumpet duet. Sophie Callahan, Eagan eighth-grader, reads Shelley’s poem, “The Cloud.”
“The Caponi Art Park and Learning Center in Eagan, began as an outdoor laboratory to teach and demonstrate the importance of creativity in healthy living. In making the Art Park, Anthony Caponi, sculptor, retired professor and chair of the Art Department of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, created serious works as an extension of his home life to demonstrate that creativity is a basic and ever present human quality that in rare occasions achieves the level of art,” the release said. The Caponi Art park will host a Medieval Fair from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. Admission is free.
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is celebrating its 50 years of premier gardens as well as 100 years of fruit and plant research, especially to develop cold hardy plants. The Arboretum’s exhibit, “Treeology,” runs until Oct. 12.
