How goes the voting?

There is expected to be record voter turn-out today. If you've already voted, how did it go? Did you face any long lines? Did the process go smoothly?  Share your stories here, or e-mail your stories to lshaffer@swpub.com

I voted this morning at around 9 a.m. It looked at first like there was going to be a long line, but, the long line was for voters who had not registered yet. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes to get in and vote-- I thought it went pretty smoothly.

This morning, I heard from a fellow reporter who is an Eden Prairie voter.  She reported that the average wait at Precinct 10 at 7 a.m. was 40 minutes.

The election judges there told her that two people were in line when they arrived at 6 a.m.

So, the morning rush is likely over, but I expect there to be long lines during the lunch hour and after 5 p.m.

Let me know how it goes.

The 7 a.m. line reached from the church doors out to Scenic Heights Road, with most early morning voters experiences a 30 to 45-minute wait to complete the process. My son and I voted shortly...

My son and I voted shortly before 9 a.m. at Hennepin Technical College. There were two people ahead of us at the front desk, but after that we marched from station to station without a wait. Easy. Quick.

Let me guess Mark, you voted for Ron Case and Sherry Butcher? And Obama and Franken and Madia and Pitzrick?

Here's another good story...

Here's another good story from Precinct 10. I got the following e-mail from Dan Kitrell, who voted there this morning:

"I took my 3 ½ year old daughter, Amanda, to vote this morning in precinct 10 (United Methodist Church). She was excited to see all of the people exiting the polls with red stickers that read, 'I Voted.' She was even more excited to see a table with cookies as we entered the building. Stickers. Cookies. What could be more fun than voting?

BTW, I asked her who she would vote for. She said, 'John McCain.' When I asked her why, she replied, 'He’s the cutest.'

The volunteers did a great job and I was in line at 7:45 a.m. and done by 8:10 a.m."

Things seem to be going...

Things seem to be going smoothly. I checked in with Precinct 11 at around 5:30 and there was a steady stream of voters, but no long lines.
The election judge there noted that there had been a large turnout this year. This precinct had a large amount registering to vote today.

So, now, we wait...
