Primary Election is Tuesday
In the Primary Election Tuesday, DFL, Independence and Republican party voters will narrow the filed of candidates for U.S. Senate. In Congressional District 3, Independence Party voters will choose between endorsed candidate David Dillon and Steev Ramsdell. Residents of District 42A will narrow the DFL field in that legislative race, choosing between DFL-endorsed Rep. Maria Ruud and challenger Daniel Kim. The winner will face Republican Shari May in the general election. Nonpartisan races include judicial races. In addition, residents of Hennepin County Commission District 5 will narrow the field in that race, choosing between Randy Johnson, Carlan Lesch and David Nyberg.
To find your precinct, visit www.edenprairie.org, click on “2008 Election Information” and click on “Where to vote.” The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. For residents unable to vote in person on Sept. 9, absentee voting is available in person at City Center, 8080 Mitchell Road, until Sept 8.

City Council filing update
There are two City Council seats, the seats of Brad Aho and Sherry Butcher, up for election Nov. 4. The following Eden Prairie residents have filed to run for Eden Prairie City Council as of Tuesday, Sept. 2:

Shari May sets
open house
Shari May has planned a “Meet the Candidate” open house from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, at Eden Prairie Community Center (room 202), 16700 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie.

Teens learn about
issues at mall
From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14, teens under age 18 can participate in “UR Votes Count” events at Eden Prairie Center.
“Eden Prairie Center will host UR Votes Count, a one-of-a-kind experience that educates and engages teens on timely, relevant issues facing the nation and the world,” according to a news release. “It also allows teens to cast their vote for who they would elect as president of the United States. This national forum addresses topics, such as the environment, healthcare, the Iraq war, Social Security, national security and education.
