The following upcoming events are planned in conjunction with the city of Eden Prairie’s 150th anniversary of the first town board meeting. See below for Eden Prairie's proclamation on the city's 150th.
Riley-Jacques Barn Twilight Special 7:30 p.m. May 17 Bring the whole gang for a barn dance at the historic Riley-Jacques barn (9100 Riley Lake Road) featuring Shake These Bones with Bob Walser and Julie Young. Tickets available at the door: $5 for adults, $3 for children, students and seniors.
Arts & Antiques in the Park 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 7 Stroll through the artists, crafters, antique dealers and food venders at Staring Lake Park (14800 Pioneer Trail), you never know what you might find!
Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie and Rib Fest 2-8 p.m. June 8 Meet up with friends at Purgatory Creek Park (13001 Technology Drive) to enjoy six area big bands, ribs and more!
Riley-Jacques Barn Twilight Special 7:30 p.m. June 14 Bring the whole gang to the historic Riley-Jacques barn (9100 Riley Lake Road) for a night of bluegrass music featuring the Middle Creek Spunk Boys. Tickets available at the door: $5 for adults, $3 for children, students and seniors.
Afternoon Tea Fundraiser 2:30-4:30 p.m. June 22 Join your friends and the Eden Prairie Historical Society for an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser at Bearpath. Gather a table of 10! Tickets $25.
Fourth of July Hometown Celebration 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4 Join in with your friends and neighbors as the city celebrates the Fourth of July and a tribute to Eden Prairie’s 150 Years of Community.

International Festival 3-8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 Join your neighbors for the Annual Eden Prairie International Festival the featuring Cyril Paul and the Calypso Monarchs. Dance, arts, food, exhibits and more!

Sunbonnet Day 12:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 Plan to bring the whole family to this special Sunbonnet Day at the Riley-Jacques Farmstead (9100 Riley Lake Road). This year we’ll have the Dorenkemper house open for tours. Meet with guides and learn about the history of one of Eden Prairie’s oldest homes. See how early families in Eden Prairie lived without electricity, indoor plumbing, modern refrigeration, iPods, cell phones, SUV’s and more.
Hennepin County Library History Display This summer visit the Hennepin County Library in Eden Prairie to check out the recommended reading list just for the history buff. PROCLAMATION EDEN PRAIRIE HERITAGE DAY WHEREAS, the Town of Eden Prairie was organized on May 11, 1858, where by acclamation the first Town Supervisors held the first Town meeting at which the first Town Supervisors were elected; and WHEREAS, the spirit, vision and good will of the Town’s founders and residents continues today in the people of Eden Prairie and the quality of life enjoyed by the City’s residents; and WHEREAS, over the past 150 years Eden Prairie has grown to a population of over 65,000 people and today ranks as one of the most livable Cities in the country; and WHEREAS, Eden Prairie’s most livable status is in part a legacy built on the notable accomplishments of the past and is a source of pride to everyone living in Eden Prairie today; and WHEREAS, to commemorate and perpetuate this legacy for all future generations in Eden Prairie. NOW, THEREFORE, the Eden Prairie City Council does proclaim May 11 as EDEN PRAIRIE HERITAGE DAY ADOPTED BY the Eden Prairie City Council on this 6th day of May 2008.
