The state primary is Sept. 9. If you can’t make it to the polls to vote, absentee ballots are available, according to a news release from Hennepin County.
You can apply for an absentee ballot if:
* You’re going to be absent from the precinct on the day of the state primary.
* Illness or disability prevents you from going to a polling place.
* Religious discipline or observance prohibits you from going to a polling place.
* You are an election judge in another precinct.
Applications and absentee ballots are available at your city offices or you can find an application by linking to “Absentee ballot application” on the Hennepin County Web site – www.hennepin.us/elections.
You also can drop off your ballot at your city office no later than 5 p.m. on the evening before the primary. City offices also will be open especially for absentee voting on the Saturday before the primary (Sept. 6).
Absentee ballots for the general election will be available beginning Oct. 3.
For more voting information, call your local city clerk or the Hennepin County Elections Division: 612-348-5151.
