Cub Foods plans to offer $40,000 in scholarships to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
Graduating high school seniors can apply to receive $1,000 toward higher education.
The scholarships are presented by the Cub Cares Community Foundation, "which is committed to supporting education and fighting hunger," according to a news release. "The 40 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale who show dedication in the classroom, provide service to their community and participate in extracurricular activities.
"Students who are residents in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois are eligible to apply. Students must plan to continue their education at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational or technical school. Applications can only be found and submitted online and will be accepted Nov. 15, 2008, through March 2009 at www.cub.com. Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, will review all submitted applications. Scholarships will be awarded in May 2009. Brochures with additional information are available at all Cub Foods customer service counters."
