The city of Eden Prairie has cancelled the Miller Park Barrier Free Playground grand opening due to weather. It had been planned for June 16, but will be rescheduled at a later date.
What: Miller Park Grand Opening
Where: 8208 Eden Prairie Road
The event celebrates the opening of Eden Prairie’s first barrier-free playground and was to include refreshments and a performance by the Teddy Bear Band.
The playground, which includes a series of ramps and soft surfaces, allows for children and adults of all abilities to access the structures.
According Eden Prairie’s Web site: “The idea for the playground was first created by Mike and Jenny Garvin, in hopes to raise funds for a park where their daughter Ashley, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, could play alongside other children her age. With the help of friends and family, the Garvin family raised over $100,000 toward the barrier free playground, which was enough to get phase one underway.
