Thanks from
Women of Today

Eden Prairie Women of Today would like to extend a huge thank you to Wendi Russo, Mrs. Minnesota America 2008 and ShopNBC TV host, for speaking at our July general membership meeting. Wendi shared her passion for mentoring children. She is a senior speaker for Kinship of Greater Minnesota and a mentor to an 8-year-old girl herself. There are children right here in Eden Prairie whose lives would benefit from another caring adult’s attention on a regular basis. For more information about mentoring, please visit www.kinship.org. Be an everyday hero, mentor a child.

Sue Ellen Toppings

Thanks from Lions
for Corn Feed

We want to express our sincere thanks to community members and friends for coming out last Saturday to Round Lake for the annual Corn Feed event sponsored by the Eden Prairie Lions and Lioness Clubs. Your support was appreciated and we want to offer an apology for those of you who had to wait in the long lines for the sweet corn.

Windy weather conditions did not help the cooking crew who had a difficult time keeping the flames for the steamers going at full blast. Our crew did the best they could with the cooking and keeping up with the crowd. But we know you had the patience to understand this problem and also to enjoy the corn when it was finally done … thanks for this.

We served close to 5,000 ears of corn even with very windy conditions. Our thanks to the club members who volunteered their time to make this community event a success. Lion Mike Campbell deserves special thanks for managing the softball tournament with lots of teams entered and all playing great games.

Gregg Fletcher, Tom Anderson and Jo Van Remortel

Editor’s note: Fletcher, Anderson and Van Remortel were co-chairs of the event.
