Go Eden Prairie High School

Go Eden Prairie High School girls, you rock. You are going to win and beat the other team. Play your best and be good athletes. The finals are coming and you need to get ready to win it all. There is nothing stopping you now, go for the gold!

Robbinsdale Cooper is a good team, but they are the number 9 seed and we should be able to best them in this fancy game called lacrosse. Our all-star offense and outstanding defense will dominate the game and make the victory ours. The win is out there for us, all we have to do is grab it.

Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words, Motivational words…yea!

I have always loved

I have always loved pheasants because they are such beautiful birds! My father was a taxidermist who once had an opportunity to mount a golden pheasant (pictured here), which is even more colorful than the birds that are native to this area. Golden pheasants are native to China and, other than zoos, I'm not aware of any in the United States. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see these gorgeous birds in flight?

150 parking spots? Sounds like the bus is a good idea.

“Soccer is a funny

“Soccer is a funny game,” said Eden Prairie Head Coach Vince Thomas, “as the best team doesn’t always win". - That's why the game is played. Who may be considered to be the best team, either by statistics, ranking, etc., really doesn't come to fruition until the game is played and the results are final. The stats were in your team's favor, but stats don't win games.

“In all honesty,” he adds, “we’ve been on the other side, winning games that we probably shouldn’t have won.” - So you lost this one, the odds were not on your side in this game. But, does it make your team any less respectable? Not at all. I'm sure your players gave it their all and I'm sure that you're proud of the fact that this team made it to this level and were given the chance to represent their school as one of the top ranked teams in the state.

All team members, especially those in prep sports, play their hearts out and do the best they can. If they don't, it's the coaches responsibility to give them the guidance, encouragement and support to strive to achieve their goals to become the best they can be. Isn't this what team play is all about, and prep sports ethics in general?

My cudos go out to all of the members on the teams who participated in this state tournament, and to all of those who have participated in the sport of soccer in general. This sport, especially at the high school level, is overshadowed by the other 'futbal' game at this time of year and these young adults deserve the recognition they have earned. There are few sports where a child starts out at the age of 4 or 5, playing anywhere from 6 to 12 months a year at this one sport, and follow it all the way through to the high school levels that these ahtletes have achieved.

Finally, let's give the Anoka team credit where credit is due. I've followed these boys in their play throughout the years and they have worked very, very hard to get where they are at, as I'm sure of what can be said of the other participants in the state tournament. They deserve the recogniton as a quality team and they are very proud of what they have accomplished.
