Schooner. Now, there's a funny word. Wasn't there a scene in the movie "Mr. Mom" where the working mother develops a successful advertising pitch for Schooner Tuna? Maybe I have that wrong, but that's what pops into my mind when I hear the word Schooner.

I did meet Melissa Sue

I did meet Melissa Sue Anderson. I remember telling my mother that she was shorter than me and I was 10 at the time.
She also had a lot of facial hair but I digress.
I remember hot air balloon rides for willing participants.
As you know, Eden Prairie was not a top 10 in anything at that time.

Did you meet Melissa Sue Anderson? She played Mary on Little House on the Prairie, I heard she was there. Carrie (the Greenbush Twins) was not there because Jack (the dog) couldn't come too.

I think they stuck with Prairie Center drive after the Eden Prairie center was built in 1976. I still remember the grand opening.

This is one of the easiest

This is one of the easiest things to make and there are just three ingredients:

1 pkg. cocktail smokey links
1 pkg. bacon
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Cut the bacon slices in half, wrap one around each smokey link and place on a foil-lined jellyroll pan (the foil is a critical step if you EVER want to use that pan again!).

Sprinkle the brown sugar over the assembled bacon-wrapped links (it's OK that there's a bunch of it landing between the links because the grease from the bacon helps to carmelize it).

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes and serve. I usually serve and store them (if there's any left over) in a glass dish because it's easier to reheat them that way.

I've tried keeping them warm in a crock pot but they tend to lose their crispness. In the glass dish, I can pop them into the microwave to rewarm them if they cool off too much during a party.

My husband loves to use grape jelly on hot dogs. But he's from Missouri, so, it's probably not just a North Dakotan thing.
It's madness!

Would you share that recipe?
We make little smokeys in a crock pot with a jar of grape jelly and a jar of chili sauce. Does anyone else do this? Or is it a little bit North Dakotan?

There's something about

There's something about combining salt and sugar that makes for a tasty treat. I have an appetizer that I like to make that has a piece of bacon wrapped around a lil smokey and then the whole shebang is covered in brown sugar and baked until crisp-y!

Sometimes I enjoy them so much I'd like to roll in them -- like a pig in mud, which might be where they got the idea to put the chocolate on the bacon?

The... horror...

But, I think I can top that: Let's take an entire bucket of Sweet Martha's cookies, glue them together with frosting, then deep fry the entire ball atop a spear. I can think of nothing better than parading about the fair grounds with a giant orb of fried cookie dough.
Who's with me!

You wouldn't take away the medal if a winner didn't sing, would you? Maybe the winner wants to savor the moment and the singing would be a distraction.

Besides, there are much worse things the gold medal winners could be doing. For example, winners could pose like the Incredible Hulk, could attempt to spike the medal, or could do a victory dance like in pro football. I hope we would all disapprove of these things.

I'd say if the gold medal winners want to stand silently, let them.
