John leaves behind a great

John leaves behind a great family with a zillion pets, which breaks my heart even more. John had so many friends that you almost had to wait in line to talk with him at any "get together", but it was always worth the wait.
On returning to Glendale Wi., we got the Ames yearly Holiday Greeting with a long letter to us on what a full and happy year he had with his family and friends.
He was truly a wonderful human being, so much so, that the whole world should have gotten the chance to know him. The world has been left with a great void by his passing.
For John, I'm sure God has blessed him with all the accoutrements that come with 'The Cabin in the Sky'.
This past summer our 8 year old daughter 'Rylee' had the pleasure of spending a day with the Ames family at their cabin. I asked her what memory she had of John. She said, " The raft, the water, the sky, the clouds, a sunset, he had a hat on and sunglasses. He called himself 'Oak Tree' as he tossed every kid off the raft into the water.

                                 Tom, Mardi and Rylee Callahan

John was a life long friend

John was a life long friend of mine as we both grew up in Minocqua. Anyone that knew John will always remember that big smile he always wore. John comes from a wonderful family. He was a caring, loving, thoughtful person. I will always remember the parties that John hosted. They were always a celebration of family, fun, laughter and life. His family was always first. Bev, Matt and Lucy, you will always be in our prayers. The loss of John will forever leave a void in our lives.
Johnny has gone over the jump one last time, kicked off his waterskis and flown his Raven kite into heaven.

Love you man
Tom Handrick

I had the privilege of knowing John Ames for over 31 years. This gentle giant of a man had a huge heart and was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and caring like no other man I have ever met. His beautiful wife Bev, son Matt and daughter Lucy were the true loves of his life and this magnificent family is in our thoughts and prayers. Husband, father, brother, son, friend...he was a shining light for us all. The loss of John will be felt forever or until we are lucky enough to join him for a gathering at his cabin in the sky.

Peace and love,

Eric Vevea and family

Dear Lottie,
Thank you for being a part of my life when I needed it. I wish I would have stayed in touch. I have thought of you daily. You once told me helping people is the greatest gift of all. I was voted volunteer of the year in Oakdale, for helping youth and donating a kidney and you were right!I was the 1st business women to get that award. Thank you for all your wisdom. Love Kellie Zych (Blair)
