I had the pleasure of serving as the only foreign middle school English teacher in Loudi (娄底) this past year ... and I can definitely agree that the students in that community in China are remarkable. They embraced my teaching, invited me into their homes, and helped to teach me their language and culture throughout the year. I am so glad to see that some of them were able to travel to America to see my culture firsthand as well!

I would be very interested to find out more about the program that brought these students to Eden Prarie and connect with the organizers of that trip. Thanks!

When I told a friend that I worked in EP, the first thing he noted was that they filmed "Mall Rats" here.

Interesting. I played a security guard in that movie. Part of "Team Lafours". Kevin Smith had said something about coming back to the mall on the 10 year anniversary (2005) but that never happened.

According to Kevin Smith's Web site, a screening of the movie "Mallrats," filmed at Eden Prairie Center, is planned this summer at Eden Prairie Center. More info here.

It's part of the Netflix Rolling Roadshow, which screens movies at the locations they made famous. Last year, the roadshow screened "Jaws" at Martha's Vineyard, and "Escape from Alcatraz" from the cellblock.

It will be interesting if it actually happens.

Wow, third largest mall in the metro! I remember when it opened, my folks took us and I remember meeting Melissa Sue Anderson from "Little house on the praire" of all people. She was the one that played Mary and was a special guest. They also had a big helium balloon. It makes me feel old :-)
