The Spirits of Waseca
This year was exciting for me as I had several lectures scheduled at historical societies throughout Minnesota. I do this to help create a re-interest in the historical locations in the area. People from that city who would be attending the lecture would like to know what is around their area and not 60 miles away. When I am invited to a location, the first thing I ask is “Do you have a historical location which I can check for spiritual activity?” Some of the places do and some don’t. If I go to a historic location and I do not find any activity then I move on to a cemetery or a business or private home.
When I was invited to Waseca, Joan Mooney had arranged for me to investigate 2 locations. Waseca’s Court House, and a private home. I love court houses, they carry energy from their cases and it’s embedded in the walls. Everyone knows appearing in front of a judge can be a nerve wrecking experience. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small matter like a traffic ticket, or a big murder case, people. This beautiful courthouse was built in 1870 and has seen over 100 years of human drama played within its majestic walls. I was informed ahead of time of an employee who had committed suicide and of some heavy court cases dealing with murder. As I arrived, I greeted Joan and another lady Margaret who works at the courthouse. Both ladies would accompany us during the tour. 2 other members came with me, Sydney and Sandra.
As we entered into the building, we decided to set up in the basement. There was a table were we unloaded and checked our equipment. This was going to be what I call a pre-check. This is when we don’t bring in heavy equipment such as the thermo camera, temp meter, Frank’s box, K2 meter. Each of us had a camera, recorders, one had an emf meter, and I also had a hunting camera.
As I was setting my hunting camera on the stand I looked down the hallway towards the elevators. From a door near the far wall I saw a light come out of the room heading to the area where the elevators were. “Interesting,” I thought. I was the only one facing that hall way. There was nothing in the area I was at to have caused a reflection by that door. It must have been an orb. I didn’t think anything more about it as we grabbed our equipment and Margaret started to show us around. We walked down the hall to the elevators and I took a few photos with my hunting camera and we then went to the room where the employee had killed himself. I was stunned to find out that that was the room I saw the orb come out of. As Margaret opened the door for us and then she and Joan stood by the water fountain with a tape recorder. As I entered the room, I got an overpowering sense of murdered. I looked at the stairs where he was found, once again, murder was placed in my head. I asked Sydney for her emf meter. I wanted to see if there was any reaction to the meter and if, perhaps the spirit was in the room communicating to me the cause of his death. The meter did not have a high reading and as I stated that, on the recorder that the ladies had I picked up a man’s voice saying “I’m over here now.” When I checked the photos I took by the elevator, I can see a misty shape. I would normally reject such a photo suspecting that it could have been made from the sun coming in from the door on the far wall. But I took a few photos in that area and only one came out with the misty form.
From the basement, we went up to the jury room. Here we asked a few questions to see if any spirits were around. As I stood by the door way I heard a voice. I couldn’t make out what was said. When I checked the tape recorder, I heard a voice say tell Laura she..with me..
From the jury room we went to the main court room. Here a strange thing happened. We found some time while we were there the jury chairs had moved. As you can see in one photo only one chair was turned around. But in another photo taken soon after, 2 chairs have turned around.
A faint voice was picked up. It said “Owen Condon, this is a court room where is your client?” This may be residual. However, while Joan and Margaret were talking about a judge, Sydney did get a louder voice from a woman saying “Home town club, shut up!”
From the main court room we went to the second court room. Here they have a child’s room. The courtroom was hot and I left a tape recorder in the child’s room and we all left the courtroom to explore another part of the building. Then I returned to retrieve the recorder. At that time on the recorder I got a woman’s voice saying “Hello….Linda.”
Our last stop was the auditor’s office, were we were allowed to enter the vault where the man who committed suicide worked. Here we experienced a number of things. We left a recorder in the vault and entered and exited it. As I sat in the dark, I felt someone behind me and I took some photos behind me. I started taking photos behind me. On the recorder we can hear a man say “get out.” A number of evps were too hard to clean up and barely able to hear. Some indicated that he found something not quite right. No..company, No money..and ledger…
Louder, we could hear this man saying “No comfort.” Is this poor man unable to find comfort in his untimely death? Also in an angry voice he said “Cowardly Camush.” Is this the name of the man who killed him?
Waseca’s Courthouse did not let us down as far in finding spiritually activity. Was this man murdered when he found something wrong with the books? Who was turning the chairs in the main court room? Who is the woman’s voice we heard on the recorders? I dearly love a mystery and I am hoping to return after the holidays to see what else we can pick up.
The private home we visited will be posted in another post.
Please google my web site, Minnesota’s Beyond the Veil to hear the evps. The link to the story is on the bottom of the first page. Thank you.
