Worst prom dress ever?
May 9, 2008 - 1:20pm — Karla
I'm posting this photo of me in my prom dress from prom in spring 1990, to warn all the young women about to attend Eden Prairie's prom tomorrow. Think classic, not trendy (although this probably wasn't even trendy then, maybe in 1986). Judging from the photos we've already seen of some of the prom dresses that were available at PROP Shop, these young women have learned that lesson. Unfortunately, when I walked into Dayton's in Fargo in 1990, I was tragically beguiled by the royal blue dress with quite possibly the largest sleeves ever. That might have been a good thing, however, as the sleeves may have balanced out the weight of my huge waterfall bangs. Well, here it is.
Anyone else care to share their prom photo? Don't forget to include the Dyeables shoes. I'm including a link to a photo gallery of bad prom dresses from the St. Petersburg Times. My dress bears a striking resemblance to bad dress No. 2, you might notice. I should also add that we hired a limo for the evening, which in Hope meant that we had to pay the person to drive from Fargo, about 60 miles, then drive us around town for an hour (probably making 20 circuits of every street in town in that time, and driving past our parents' homes at least 5 times each), leave us at prom and drive back to Fargo.

Back to page topOh, it was black, so that was OK. If only he hadn't gone with the oversized blue bow tie that matched my dress.
