Apparently the holiday started in 1958 with an employee at State Farm Insurance Company who hoped to improve relationships between employees and supervisors. It falls every year on Oct. 16.
Hallmark’s got the whole story on its Web site, http://hotnews.hallmark.com/boss_day.html
