The area around Columbine Road and Prairie Center Drive is slated for a housing redevelopment that could include some taller buildings. Building height for this plan could range from single-story retail with three levels of housing over it to as high as a 13-story building (overlooking Purgatory Creek). The change will include redeveloping what is currently Castle Ridge and Broadmoor apartments. The Eden Prairie Planning Commission will be looking at these plans in May.
What do people think of redevelopment plans for that area?

Back to page topI can see some benefits, especially if some of this forecasted housing is for senior citizens. Eden Prairie has a lot of very bright and talented people heading for retirement and I would hate to see an Eden Prairie "brain drain" if these good folks are forced to seek housing outside our community.

Back to page topThe plans could include retail on the first floor of the development. That would be very handy for seniors and would go along with the plan to create a walkable town center.
