Empty Anderson Lakes?

» Read similar stories filed under:

The question: How to improve water quality at NW and SW Anderson Lakes?

The options: Eden Prairie officials and the Three Rivers Park District prefer to draw down the water from the lakes in order to kill off an invasive species of plant. Many nearby homeowners would prefer a chemical treatment of the lakes.

What’s next: The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District Board of Managers will be making a decision on if it favors a drawdown during its Aug. 29 meeting. The board will review the environmental assessment worksheet at its Aug. 15 meeting.

One catch: In order to get a permit for either a chemical treatment or drawdown, the Three Rivers Park District and all nine residents who own property on the Lakes  must agree to a single solution.
