The City Council approved a resolution Tuesday that would be the next step in a massive $200 million development project near Eden Prairie Center.
The Presbyterian Homes Redevelopment near the corner of Flying Could Drive and Prairie Center Drive would be a 9- to 13-story tiered building with 260 units of all-age housing, 372 unites of senior housing, 21,000 square feet of mixed use retail below 75 units of affordable senior housing, 20,000 square feet of additional retail, room for a 12,000-square-foot restaurant, 13,000-square-foot pharmacy and 4,000-square-foot bank.
A handful of residents spoke at a recent council meeting with their concerns about the height of the building. Much of the council discussion revolved around the reasons for the building, safety concerns for elderly residents and the amenities included in the project.
The site would be a redevelopment of the current Castle Ridge Care Center and Broadmoor Apartments just off of Prairie Center Drive. According to Vice President of Development John Mehrkens, the project will be developed in three phases.
The first phase would involve the construction of a CVS Pharmacy, the second phase would be construction of the senior housing and the last phase would be the all-age housing.

What do you think about the new development? Is 13 stories too tall for Eden Prairie?
