Last week (Oct 2nd EPN issue) there was a Norm Coleman press release in the Eden Prairie News and now again this week in the Star Tribune West Section which supported the distribution of Federal funds to expand Flying Cloud Airport.
We're in the midst of a financial crisis. This is a $50M+project which the residents and past Eden Prairie City Councils fought to STOP for over 20 years.
The FAA reported that the projected numbers of future operations were grossly overestimated. The operations on the ground have decreased annually for over a decade. It has been shown that there is no need and no return on the investment in many public forums over the last 20 years.
What can you do on behalf of your constituents to put an immediate stop to this pork project for corporations and wealthy individuals?
This project is very "anti-Eden Prairie" and is an extreme waste of precious money in a tough economy.
When our are legislators going to reign in the unnecesssary pork and stop subsidizing a form of transportation that 99% of the public
don't use?
When?

Brad Aho's Truthfullness/Funding Disparities
Some candidates don't seem to realize that you can't or shouldn't print things in campaign literature unless they're true.
One such four page color throw away distributed amongst local grocery and service coupon books which would have cost more to print than the entire budgets of both his opponents, offers a list of quality-of-life actions the candidate says he will continue to support.
The problem is the list and the candidate don't match. Here's just one of them:
"Working with MAC and FAA to decrease airport noise levels."
After hearing complaints in June and denying a presentation by Zero Expansion to the City Council on Noise Violations to the voluntary curfew in July 2008, the council's reacted after we posted the video on YOUTUBE:
http://wwwzeroexpansion.blogspot.com/
City Council Minutes from July 2008-
Request to Flying Cloud Airport Advisory Commission -
"Young said we heard a lot of comments at our meeting in June about night time flights, our agreement, and the restrictions imposed on the MAC by the FAA. He would like to charge the Flying Cloud Airport Advisory Commission, with the input of City Attorney Rosow, to examine whether we can communicate an expression to the FAA on how the City feels about night time flights while remaining consistent with the final agreement.
Nelson said there has been a lot of input from citizens who are upset about night time flying. She thought it is an excellent thing for the Airport Commission to look at, and she also thought the Airport Commission would be happy to sink their teeth into it. She would like to hear Mr. Rosow’s review of what we can or can’t do to lessen the impact of night time flying. Butcher agreed. She said before the City Council became neutral on the issue, we generally opposed the airport and we heard a lot from people for
many years about how noise had a negative impact on their lives.
Duckstad said he was in favor. Young asked Mr. Rosow if he would work with the Commission on this. Rosow said he would. Young noted any communication with the FAA would have to come from the City Council."
MOTION to Adjourn the Meeting: Butcher moved, seconded by Aho, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0. Mayor Young adjourned the meeting at 9:05 PM.

Brad Aho contributed NOT ONE WORD to the discussion. NOT A WORD. Everyone on the council offered their agreement and support for this, BUT BRAD AHO.
When is Brad Aho going to start being truthful about his record?
Brad Aho did not vote to...
Back to page topBrad Aho did not vote to expand the airport, your elected leader Ron Case did. You, Zerotwo, are being disingenuous.
I live by the airport, have for 30 years. The planes are much quieter than when Ron voted to expand the airport.
PS: I am not a pilot.

Gino, you have so contorted the facts, it's pathetic. And it's exactly what Young and Aho have been doing.
Residents asked the city to spend the money necessary to fight it. Fight it. That was the original intent. But the lawyers knew the city didn't have a chance against MAC and the FAA, so they did the best they could with the agreement.
If in fact the FIGHT would have happened under Young and Aho's watch they would have never listened to residents and spent the money to fight. They would have followed the lead of the EP Chamber and told residents there was no way to fight it.
THEN we'd be left with nothing, no ability to come back and sue MAC if necessary.
YOU're a follower and you have the gall to come out in public and talk about something you don't have a clue about.
SHAME on Young and Aho, they both should be impeached from the council for distorting information and acting against the interests of residents.

It's really NOT BEING ABOVE BOARD to make up tax numbers. But that's what Republicans do, make up stuff to defeat their opponents.
Here's a chart from 1995 to 2006 when Ron Case was in office which shows that Eden Prairie's prop tax burden in comparison to other like suburbs was the lowest on a per capita basis.
The figures were used in response to the Tax Alliance's claim that Eden Prairie's tax burden was out of sight.
The Summary of Neal's Report was that:
"The data show the City’s tax burden, whether measured absolutely or on a per capita basis, has remained flat during the time period from 2003-2006 when adjusted by the rate of inflation. The data from 1995-2006 shows the City’s tax burden to have grown at or below the rate of comparable Twin Cities’ suburbs during that time period. While one
can still make the argument that the City of Eden Prairie is taxing too much and spending too much, I believe this set of data shows that our taxing and spending behavior, as a city government, has been reasonable when compared to other MLC cities and when
compared to the rate of inflation."

As to Case and Butcher being against the airport expansion ... before they voted for it. For once you are telling the truth. Good job! Someone needs to set an example for Gary Demee and other enemies of the airport. Maybe you've just set an example for yourself.
BRAD AHO: BIGFOOT? For all...
Back to page topBRAD AHO: BIGFOOT?
For all we know they could be the same person?
Instead of sending us to the city site, we are sent to the local Republican SMEAR CENTER, infamous for its smear of opposing candidates, who by the way are NEVER REPUBLICANS.
There is no link providing a neutral source; the GOP site is not a neutral source.
Notice that in any of Brad Aho's advertising he never quotes a source. That's because most of his claims are false, have no basis in fact.
Even Scott Neal said the tax hype that started with the Tax Alliance back in 2006, was INCORRECT. What it proves is that taxes in Ron Case's years as a council member were in fact lower than under Phil Young.
Neal said the Tax Alliance misrepresented city information, just as the GOPers are doing now.
The figures Ron included came directly from the city's assessor's office. You've shown figures but you have not identified that they are from the city's assessor's office. Where's the link?
Ron included this in an ad that went out to thousands of residents using the city assessor's office as his source. As much as you can try, there's no way anyone would believe Case wasn't being totally on the up and up.
On the other hand, we can't say that about Aho, because he has never sourced one claim.
And, you are TRYING to dispute it without any factual back-up.
YOU'RE A NOTHING MORE THAN A SMEAR AGENT FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.
SHAME ON YOU!

Back to page topNo Politcal Agenda...whoever we are..
Irregardless of who, there is no political agenda. The local DFL website is not providing facts, nor smear on our behalf
And that's where you lost the argument a long time ago.
What office does Brad Aho think he's running for? His associations are a who's who in Republican politics.
Does he really need that kind of resume to run for a local council seat? And he has some of these Republican officials calling on his behalf to bully people who question Brad's positions.
What it proves is that he is beholding to the party for his support and if he wins it will be because Republican Party affliation provided the LIFT he obviously needs to beat his opponents.
Not to leave out the utter smear campaign he waged himself against them without any evidential proof.
I wouldn't support a candidate who did that no matter what party they were affilated with or even if they were non-affilated, as Sherry and Ron are.
Whoever Bigfoot is he is TIED to the Local REPUBLICAN PARTY and their smear campaigns against local oandidates who are not Republicans.
Bigfoot has a partisan political agenda. Not a good reference point for Brad Aho and one that he FACTUALLY can not disavow...
Oh, please. Case publicly...
Back to page topOh, please. Case publicly and repeatedly claimed to be a Republican when he thought that would suit him. This year he caucused with Democrats and sent out mail which attacked the "right wing" "council majority" and also stated that he was the "only Democrat" in the council race. Case may not be officially endorsed by the DFL, but he's been playing party politics since long before Aho was elected.
As to his recent claim of being the "low tax guy," it's simply not true. Think about it--the "new" city council has only passed a single one-year budget since Case was removed from office. How, then, does Case get away in his mailer of comparing his eleven years to Aho's three? Answer: by taking the last two budgets passed by the Lukens/Case/Butcher majority (and which includes a tax increase which Aho voted AGAINST) and counting them in Aho's column. In other words--Case wants to blame Aho for tax increases that Case supported and Aho actually didn't.
The truth is simple--Aho's record on taxes is better than Cases.
But, the real question is why Case, after two years of decrying low taxes, now wants to paint himself as tax conscious?
