OBAMA PICKS PLAGIARIST

Obama Chooses Plagiarist as Running Mate.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/frenzy/bid...

Joe Biden committed plagiarism during his third term as a Senator. As it turns out Biden has a habit of plagiarizing going back to law school. (Realistically, it probably goes back further than that.)

Picking a plagiarist as a running mate might turn out to be a smart political move. It could take the focus off of the many skeletons that continue to be discovered in Obama's closet.

Obama Bets on Bigot Biden:

In speaking about Obama, Biden proclaims that he is "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean."

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=2838420&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0...

He also makes disparaging remarks about the Indian-Americans who reside in his home state of Delaware: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13757367/

It appears that Biden the Plagiarist is also Biden the Bigot. The local blogger Vamma recently made an offensive remark regarding someones heritage. Vamma justifies this by claiming the victim of the attack is a Republican.

Vamma (VPP? ... Vicious Pablum Puker?) has really crossed the line with the ethnic slur and owes the victim an apology.

ACORN 2006: Voter Fraud, Fannie, and Freddie
http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009189

"The Acorn Indictments: A union-backed outfit faces charges of election fraud."
Friday, November 3, 2006 12:01 A.M. EST

So, less than a week before the midterm elections, four workers from Acorn, the liberal activist group that has registered millions of voters, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for submitting false voter registration forms to the Kansas City, Missouri, election board. But hey, who needs voter ID laws? ...

Operating in at least 38 states (as well as Canada and Mexico), Acorn pushes a highly partisan agenda, and its organizers are best understood as shock troops for the AFL-CIO and even the Democratic Party. As part of the Fannie Mae reform bill, House Democrats pushed an "affordable housing trust fund" designed to use Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac profits to subsidize Acorn, among other groups. A version of this trust fund actually passed the Republican House and will surely be on the agenda again next year.
Acorn and its affiliates have pulled some real stunts in recent years. In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, ****** Tracy and Jive Turkey. During a Congressional hearing in Ohio in the aftermath of the 2004 election, officials from several counties in the state explained Acorn's practice of dumping thousands of registration forms in their lap on the submission deadline, even though the forms had been collected months earlier. ...

A recent Pew Research Center survey found that blacks today are almost twice as likely as they were in 2004 to say they have little or no confidence in the voting system. Such a finding would seem like a powerful argument for voter ID laws, which consistently poll well among people of all races and incomes and would increase confidence in the voting process. Of course, voter ID laws would also cut down on fraud, which, judging from the latest indictments, would put a real crimp in Acorn's style.

Where is Uncle Omar?

Last Week the London Times located Barack Obama's "lost" aunt by following a trail that began with Obama's memoir. She is the U.S. illegally, living in a run down area of Boston. Where is Uncle Omar?

The Times called the Zeituni Onyango in Boston three times. The first time a woman said that she “went to California”. The second time a woman said: “She died last summer.” The third time a woman said in French that she did not know her at that address.

On visiting the housing estate, however, neighbours confirmed that she was indeed the “Auntie Zeituni” in Mr Obama’s book – as she eventually confirmed herself.

Uncle Omar has still not been found.

It was not until Wednesday evening that The Times obtained a formal identification of Ms Onyango by George Hussein, Mr Obama’s half-brother who had known her throughout his childhood.

Whatever the Democrat campaign may imply, there is nothing suspicious about the story or its timing. The only mystery, perhaps, is how so many people read Mr Obama’s book in the US without wondering what might have happened to the mysterious relative, lost in America.

During the 1960s Joe Biden was of draft age and there was a draft in effect. Biden was able to dodge the draft using "medical reasons."

If Biden was healthy enough to cheat his way through school, he was healthy enough to served in the military. The media is ingoring this in the spirit of Rathergate.

Biden was too unhealthy to serve his country in the 1960's. Now, forty-some years later a much older Joe Biden wants us to think he is healthy enough to be the under study for the Commander-In-Chief.

Republicans Have Class.

Over the weekend, Republican leaders announced plans to curtail most of Monday's Republican Convention schedule as Hurricane Gustav was zeroing in on New Orleans.

Meanwhile back in Minnesota, Democratic anarchists kept true to their plans to conduct criminal acts and on Monday they became violent. Almost three hundred of these thugs were arrested. This illustrates that liberals in general are a classless breed of political activists with little or no respect for the law. They lack common decency.

Meanwhile in a southwestern suburb of the Twin Cities, the edenprairiefictionwriter was a busy beaver blogging away. As violence was occurring in St Paul, the fictionwriter was safely behind a keyboard cutting-and-pasting stories for her blog, and spreading the news that some "right-wingers" might be in town. Not ordinary "right-wingers" mind you; according to the fictionwriter, these are "ultra-secret right-wingers" who are "clothed in secrecy."

If any more violence breaks out during the rest of the convention, we'll know who it is that inciting the rioters: It is the classless edenprairiefictionwriter and other Democratic hacks who find pleasure in encouraging violent outbursts from their left-wing comrades.

Back to page top

WAS PLAGIARIST JOE BIDEN FULLY VETTED?

I believe he was.

A Google search reveals that Biden cheated his way through law school. It also acknowledges he dropped out of a previous bid for the White house because he got busted plagiarizing someone else's speech. And the fact that he's a racist is all there too.

We all know he has a big mouth, no need to google that.

Was Sarah Palin fully vetted?

I believe she was.

Sarah was well known for her stance against the "bridge to nowhere." It was well known that Palin supported the bridge before the funding plan changed. The bottom line was that Palin was not going to subject her constituents to a last minute tax-burden. She put her foot in the sand once federal funding was attached to strings.

What most of us have learned in recent days is something referred to as Trooper-gate. This is something that was a dead issue before Palin was chosen as a V.P. candidate. Within 48 hours of her selection, mainstream media, i.e the liberal Barack Hussein Obama-lovin media, decided to dig up a dead horse to beat it some more.

Pregnant daughter: Once the left-wing smear tactics started rolling, Palin was forced to publilcy acknowledge the her 17 year-old daughter was pregnant. I can't imagine that this a situation that any parent would want to face, but Palin did.

Lay off the kid will ya? Imagine the pressure on the family before this became a campaign issue. Have some respect. Have a sense of decency.

Was Palin vetted about her daughter's maternal status? No. What were they going to do ask for medical records or make her take a pee test?

When Angry Al Franken was the head writer at Saturday Night Live (back when it really-really wasn't funny) there were a few skits about how ugly Chelsea Clinton was. Even though the Clinton's were a sitting "two for the price of one" presidency", mainstream media pounced on the idea that SNL was poking fun and embarrassing a kid.

Mainstream media had it right, lay off the kids.

Joe Biden has an adult son that was a lobbyist. Both Joe Biden' son and brother have ties to a fundraiser who is a bribery suspect. Stay tuned.

Back to page top

Governors In The White House:

With one exception, you would have to go back more than thirty years to find an elected President who had not been the Governor of a state. That President was George Herbert Walker Bush who had served as Vice President for eight years.

Those who anointed Barack Obama less than four years ago - when he began his career as a junior senator - as the 2008 Democratic Candidate for President, made a huge mistake. Hillary Clinton was brushed aside for demographic reasons. Hillary is by no means experienced enough, but her resume is longer than Barack's. Hillary would not have picked Joe Biden as a running mate and that is one significant difference.

Governors don't have foreign policy experience. Senators don't have executive office experience and have never been the commander-in-chief of anything. It only makes sense that a would-be President and his running mate would have experiences that complement each other. That is what is best for America.

Senator John McCain picked a Governor. Junior Senator Barack Obama picked a senior senator. McCain, well versed in foreign policy, picked someone with an executive perspective. Obama picked someone who could teach him foreign policy.

A Ralph Nader/Whoopie Goldberg ticket would offer as much as Obama/Biden. McCain chose a running mate who has executive experience. McCain/Palin is a ticket of synergy.

John McCain's military record is well known and even Dan Rather wouldn't question it. Obama has no military record, and yet he picked a running mate who was able to dodge military service. McCain's choice of Palin made the Republican ticket much stronger. When Obama chose Biden, he further exposed his own weaknesses.

Rezko: Prosecutors move to delay Rezko sentencing

Monday, October 06, 2008

By MIKE ROBINSON, Associated Press Writer

CHICAGO — Federal prosecutors moved Monday to delay indefinitely the sentencing of convicted fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko, sending their strongest hint yet that he is ready to spill his political secrets.

The filing asks for a postponement while prosecutors and defense attorneys "engage in discussions that could affect their sentencing postures."

Speculation has simmered for weeks that the key fundraiser for Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Sen. Barack Obama was whispering what he knows about corruption in Illinois government to federal prosecutors in hopes of getting a lighter sentence.

Rezko raised more than $1 million for Blagojevich's campaign fund and was one of the governor's key advisers. He was frequently by the governor's side in the early days of his administration and could be in a position to shed considerable light on federal investigations into patronage hiring and a host of other issues involving Blagojevich.

The governor has not been charged with wrongdoing. A spokesman did not immediately respond to an e-mail message after business hours seeking comment.

U.S. District Judge Amy J. St. Eve had set Sept. 3 as a firm date for sentencing Rezko on his conviction for launching a $7 million scheme to use his clout with the Blagojevich administration to squeeze kickbacks out of a contractor and seven money management firms wanting to do business with the state. Then she postponed the sentencing date to Oct. 28.

Federal prosecutors filed a three-paragraph brief late Monday asking for that date to be stricken and the sentencing postponed indefinitely. The wording left little doubt that Rezko offered enough to make the government consider some sort of sentencing break.

Federal spokesman Randall Samborn declined to comment on the latest development. Defense attorneys Joseph Duffy and William Ziegelmueller did not immediately respond to office voicemails left late Monday.

Two attorneys familiar with the investigation, speaking only on condition of anonymity because grand jury matters are secret, said last week that federal prosecutors were contacting the lawyers of a number of campaign contributors and others with information that only Rezko could have given them. One of the lawyers said it was plain the prosecutors were laying the groundwork for questioning Rezko further.

One of the matters that prosecutors have been interested in learning is who paid for the renovation of Blagojevich's Chicago home. Rezko's now defunct Chicago Construction Services was the contractor on the project. One person familiar with the renovation contacted Monday afternoon, speaking only on condition of anonymity because of grand jury secrecy, said he was subpoenaed by federal prosecutors and asked about the project.

"They were looking for basic business dealings, who paid, how much, that sort of thing," he said. He said the governor's wife, Patti, paid the bill.

At Rezko's trial in May, former state employee Ali Ata, who got his job as head of the Illinois Finance Authority from Blagojevich through Rezko, testified as the government's surprise witness that he had to provide $25,000 to Rezko to pay contractors who were threatening to put a lien on the house if the bill was not paid. Ata earlier pleaded guilty to tax fraud and lying to the FBI about how Rezko got him his job.

Besides bankrolling a large portion of Blagojevich's campaign, Rezko raised substantial funds for Obama's past campaigns in Illinois _ although none for his current presidential run.

Obama's campaign says it has sent to charity $159,000 traceable to Rezko's past fundraising.

While Blagojevich was frequently mentioned at Rezko's trial, the testimony rarely touched on Obama, who has been accused of no wrongdoing.

Unmentioned at the trial was a purchase by Rezko's wife, Rita, of property adjacent to the Obama home near the University of Chicago on the city's South Side. Obama and his wife, Michelle, purchased their home the same day that Rezko's wife closed on her property. And she later sold some of her property to the Obamas to enlarge their lot. Obama later said that allowing Rezko to do what appeared to be a favor was a "bonehead" move.

Rezko was convicted in June of mail fraud, wire fraud, attempted extortion and money laundering. Several of the charges carry 20-year maximum sentences and while Rezko would not be expected to served that much time for a first offense he is still looking at the possibility of years in federal prison. A deal with prosecutors could reduce his time considerably.

Moreover, Rezko faces the prospect of a second trial early next year on federal charges of swindling the General Electrical Capital Corp. out of $10 million in the sale of a group of pizza restaurants.

And beyond that, by his own account his is running out of money and an arrest warrant has been issued in Las Vegas accusing him of failing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in casino bills.

Feminists Label Palin as an Uncle Tom.

Among the first to attack Sarah Palin was the National Organization of Women.

N.O.W. states: "Gov. Palin may be the second woman vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket, but she is not the right woman. Sadly, she is a woman who opposes women's rights, just like John McCain."

Abortion aside, what right or rights does Palin oppose for women? Having Palin as V.P. would provide for the greater good of women in this country?

If John McCain had picked a pro-choice lesbian N.O.W would still be harping. Is there a Republican candidate in the world that N.O.W. would approve of to serve as either President or Vice President? If Hillary Clinton ran as a Republican they'd attack her too.

Palin is a pro-life Republican and therefore has been granted Uncle Tom status by the card carrying members of N.O.W. Abortion is a single issue. The right to abort an unborn child is a single right. The N.O.W suggestion that Palin opposes women's rights may be a clever talking-point (and certainly one Joe Biden could plagiarize) but it doesn't reflect reality.

With their attack on Palin, N.O.W is now anti-women and pro-democrat.

RNC A SUCCESS ... Anarchist RNC-Welcoming-Committee a Failure.

The Republicans successfully held their convention and in the process even impressed most liberal pundits. As for the Welcoming Committee, many of these terrorists will be going to jail.

http://news.bostonherald.com/news/national/politics/2008/view/2008_09_03...

While the Welcoming Committee failed in their attempt to disrupt the policital process, the real victims were the local businesses that lost out because would-be patrons spent money at more secure locations. Also victimized were those who suffered property damage from rock throwing terrorists.

This biggest loser of all is the taxpayer. Cops get paid, and when we have to pay more of them to maintain civil order it is the taxpayer who suffers. Those arrested do need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. That costs money too.

Could this have been prevented? Law enforcement was both proactive and prepared. Despite what the ACLU would have you think, the police were hoping things would remain peaceful and that they wouldn't be forced to put themselves in harm's way.

There should have been a voice of reason, from the left, calling for those involved in these so-called protests to remain lawful. Many of the anarchists are Democratic supporters and will vote for Democrats.

Did Barack or Biden ask for calm? Angry Al Franken was at the State Fair last week after getting snubbed from prime-time at the Democratic Convention. What did Franken do to discourage unlawful protest? A message of peace from DFL leaders may have prevented their supporters from creating the anarchy that occurred.

And where was the DFL new kid on the block, Ashwin Madia? Out going for a run in front of the cameras again, I'll bet. (What is Madia running from? The truth?)

Truly, those at fault are the terrorists and anarchists who conspired to commit criminal acts. We can't blame Obama, Biden, Franken, Madia or others, but where is the leadership? It has long been the strategy of the Democratic Party to cater to the least common denominator and by remaining silent that's what they did.

They all missed a great opportunity to prove themselves worthy of the offices they are seeking.

Who cares if Barack Obama can bowl or not. Bowling is a luxury for people that are not living paycheck to paycheck. I'm sick of these Republican blogs touting capitalism. We live in a country where people are denied basic needs. Education, health care, housing and food are essentials. It is the duty of government to provide this, as all Americans are guaranteed basic human rights. Capitolism has failed in this country. Barack Obama and Joe Biden see this, it is a central part of their message of change. It is well known that the people in socialized countries are much happier than we are, there is comfort in knowing that we and our fellow humans have basic needs guaranteed to them. Before you label me as a socialist, let me say that I am not! I do believe that our country is behind the curve in social progams and I would be proud to pay more in taxes to ensure as all of us are entitled to basic human needs. For those who think tax cuts for the rich help creates jobs, they don't. An increase in government programs such as universal health care and public housing will create jobs while providing for the basis needs of all Americans.

Both were demoted today because of the low ratings MSNBC had during the the RNC convention. They will be replaced with the ever-boring liberal David Gregory. The goal for MSNBC executives will be to provide the same left-wing slant, with a slightly less overt tone.

Obama: O.J. Did It.

No coincidence, that Obama speaks about O.J.'s guilt just as the Rev. Wright controversy has gained national attention. O.J. killed a white woman and Barack is in a battle with Hillary. It doesn't take a James McCarville to connect the dots.

Obama says it was clear that O.J. did it, but he "understands" the acquittal.

"You remember when, during the O.J. trial ... black and white culture just had these completely opposite reactions and nobody understood it. I'm somebody who was pretty clear that O.J. was guilty," Obama told "Nightline's" Terry Moran.

"And I was ashamed for my own community to respond in that way, but I also understood what was taking place, which was that reaction had more to do with a sense that somehow the criminal justice system historically had been biased so profoundly that a defeat of that justice system was somehow a victory."

Back to page top

Which Obama is correct?

January 30, 2008 1:57 PM

It was January 17, 2001, and Illinois state senator Barack Obama was on WTTW11’s “Chicago Tonight."

Discussing his opposition to Attorney General nominee John Ashcroft, Obama praised newly-elected President Bush's new nominee for Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld.

“The proof in the pudding is looking at the treatment of the other Bush nominees," Obama said. "I mean for the most part, I for example do not agree with a missile defense system, but I dont think that soon-to-be-Secretary Rumsfeld is in any way out of the mainstream of American political life. And I would argue that the same would be true for the vast majority of the Bush nominees, and I give him credit for that.

"So I don’t want to be pegged as being far left simply because I find certain aspects in John Ashcroft’s record to be divisive or offensive," Obama continued. "I think it’s legitimate for me to raise that. As I said before, if he brought before us a nominee who didn’t agree with me on affirmative action and yet said that, you know, I do think that and showed a history for showing regard and concern for racial justice, if he came before us and said I oppose a woman’s right to choose, or I oppose abortion, I find it religiously offensive, and yet I do respect, for example, the notion that we shouldn’t be solving these things with violence, historically, if that had been what was said, then I don’t think I would object. And I think that’s a fair position to take.”

You can watch the specific part about Rumsfeld HERE ….which some Democrats may not particularly care for….

Rumsfeld danced through his confirmation hearings and was confirmed by the Senate in a voice vote, meaning no one -- including then-newly elected Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY -- objected.

A Day To Pay Respect:

Weeks ago, the McCain and Obama campaigns announced they would do no negative campaigning on September 11, in honor of Patriot Day.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=5614751

Meanwhile, a little closer to home, common decency would be short-lived on Septemeber 11, 2008. Who was the first to post a negative political rant on the Eden Prairie News Website? It was Dan Brome, an Ashwin Madia supporter.

A few hours later, edenprairiefictionwriter chimed in with not one, but four negative posts: all cut, pasted, and posted within a 24 minute time period. It was just another day for the blog-hog edenpraiirefictionwriter. Two of the posts were negative towards McCain, one negative towards Palin, and one negative about war efforts in Iraq.

Most would agree that this was a day to remember victims, although with the Madia supporter, the message may have been sent to his parents house and was "overlooked."

Respect?

Respect for 9/11 victims?

Again, who is responsible for the attacks on 9/11? Why are they not dead or on trial? What higher priorities do we have other than catching the people responsible for the attacks on 9/11?

Iraq? Iraq is a higher priority than catching Osama bin Laden? Why did we go there? Because the oil companies told us to go there? We are in Iraq now because we broke Iraq, so we must fix Iraq. We don’t know when will be done fixing Iraq until we complete the mission and win the war.

If some people felt the need to write on 9/11, it is because they are scared to see our great country take the same path it has been going down in recent years. I believe Sen. John McCain will take us even further down the wrong path by attempts to attack Iran, while we still fight in Iraq and in the forgotten country of Afghanistan.

I believe Sen. Barack Obama will return our focus back to catching those responsible for the attacks of 9/11. I believe Sen. Obama will work to bring the different groups of people fighting in Iraq together to end the war. I believe Sen. Obama will bring the leaders of all the countries in the region together to live in peace. And it will not be because he is a “Messiah” or “The One.” It will be because he is intelligent and can tell the difference between what is working and what is a failure. Unlike some Republicans we know.

If you choose to believe differently, that is your right. In this election, it will come down to whose beliefs people trust more.

Who was responsible you...

Back to page top

Who was responsible you ask?

First let me say that you do have the right to post your negative views on any day of the year. That right is the same one which allows Pastor Fred Phelps to protest at military funerals (from a reasonable distance). You also have the right to burn the American Flag.

Those directly responsible were the 20 high-jackers (the 19 who died and the one in prison) and those who trained and funded them.

If you want to blame the U.S. Government, as liberals love to do, think about what led up to 9/11. George W. Bush became president less than 8 months before the 2001 September attacks. William Jefferson Clinton had been president for 8 full years prior to that.

During the Clinton years, there were six major terrorist attacks, within the United States or against Americans abroad, committed by Islamic radicals. Among these, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the 2000 attack on the USS Cole.

The most Clinton did was to occasionally launch a few cruise missiles against the countries harboring terrorists. Clinton was weak on addressing terror. In 1999 he pardoned sixteen FALN terrorists. http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB120277819085260827.html

If you insist on blaming America first, blame Clinton.

You ask why aren't those responsible dead or on trial. Many are dead, and many others in prison. Even though Osama bin Laden may be dead, the hunt goes on. Not a day goes by where our military and intelligence agencies aren't actively looking for him or his body. The FBI has a $5 million bounty on his head. If he's already dead and buried, they may never find him.

If Bin Laden is alive, you can bet he and other terrorists will be rooting for Obama in November. For terrorists, Obama/Biden is the dream ticket.

WHY BIDEN'S PLAGIARISM SHOULDN'T BE FORGOTTEN.

By David Greenberg, professor of history and media studies at Rutgers.
http://www.slate.com/id/2198543/

"Biden's misdeeds encompassed numerous self-aggrandizing thefts, misstatements, and exaggerations that seemed to point to a serious character defect."...

"Biden's downfall began when his aides alerted him to a videotape of the British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock, who had run unsuccessfully against Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The tape showed Kinnock delivering a powerful speech about his rise from humble roots. Taken by the performance, Biden adapted it for his own stump speech. Biden, after all, was the son of a car salesman, a working-class kid made good. Kinnock's material fit with the story he was trying to sell." ...

"Over the next days, it emerged that Biden had lifted significant portions of speeches from Robert Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey. From Kennedy, he took four long sentences in one case and two memorable sentences in another. (In one account, Biden said that Pat Caddell had inserted them in his speech without Biden's knowledge; in another account, the failure to credit RFK was chalked up to the hasty cutting and pasting that went into the speech.) From Humphrey, the hot passage was a particularly affecting appeal for government to help the neediest. Yet another uncited borrowing came from John F. Kennedy."

WW, Stealing or vandalizing...

Back to page top

WW,

Stealing or vandalizing campaign signs is wrong. Is it kids breaking the law, or adults breaking the law? What I presented was a college professor stealing signs.

The stealing of campaign signs has been a problem in Eden Prairie for years. Is it worse than neighboring suburbs? Is it worse here than in other states? I don't think they keep stats on those things.

When adults are caught are they prosecuted? Nothing happened to the wife of Madia's Communications Director who got caught stealing Erik Paulsen signs. It doesn't sound like the professor will be charged either.

What do you do, put your signs out only when you can guard them? Should we consider this a violation of campaign law? Any suggestions?

This is a situation where someone maybe has only a 1/1000 chance of getting caught. If they are caught we should make an example of them.

Mr. Road Rage went to a much more serious level, too bad they didn't catch up with him. (Do you think the guy was PO-ed because the sticker said "Republicans, "for Obama", or the combination of the two?)

Many similarities between the two:
1) Both want to raise your taxes (this is the "change" they are seeking)
2) Both are lawyers. (Madia is unemployed)
3) Neither has the experience needed for the positions they are seeking.
4) Both were endorsed by Democratics, as more qualified female candidates were snubbed by the party.
5) Until recently neither lived in Minnesota's Third Congressional District.
6) Both spent time living in New York, as did Al Franken.
7) Obama is ranked the most liberal Senator in Washington. Madia was the most liberal candidate to seek the DFL endorsement in the Third District.
8) The Campaigns of both Madia and Obama have benefited greatly from the generosity of Hollywood activists.

And a few differences:
1) Jigar Madia's middle name is Ashwin, Obama's is Hussein
2) Obama lied about Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Madia lied about voting for Bush in 2000.
3) Madia's law license was suspended. Obama opted to have his law license become inactive.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,445865,00.html

A California school system refuses to say what action, if any, it will take after it received complaints about a kindergarten teacher who encouraged her students to sign "pledge cards" in support of gays.

(No mention if the teacher gave money to the Madia campaign.)

Madia: Al Franken's Money

A quick update to the comparisons to between Jigar Ashwin Madia and Barack Hussein Obama: Both have accepted large campaign contributions from Al Franken.

http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Al_Franken.php

Socialists in Minnesota's Third District must be secreting Pavlovian drool as they dream of a Madia/Franken/Obama trifecta. They would be represented by a Congressperson, Senator, and President that would all work to raise their taxes. All three lack experience! Utopia!

Franken donates to lots of liberal political causes. So far this campaign season he's given nearly 60 thousand. This is the same Angry Al Franken who failed to pay taxes in 17 states. This is the same deep-pocket Al Franken who chose to break the law by not providing workers compensation insurance for his employees for several years.

Now I know how young Ashwin has been paying for all the TV ads.

Madia: The Bilerico Connection

Add this item to the list of things Jigar Ashwin Madia has in common with Barack Hussein Obama: Support from the Bilerico Project. Madia made the front page of Bilerico today.

http://www.bilerico.com/2008/09/ashwin_madia_for_congress.php

If you're wondering what the Bilerico Project is, here's a hint: They talk a lot about changing the definition of marriage.

Bilerico is hosting a fundraiser for young Ashwin on September 25th in Washington D.C. "Suggested contribution" levels are $50 to $1000. Madia had a similar GLBT fundraiser last month in Minnesota, where guests paid up to $2300 to attend. Madia: Big GLBT

It is not surprising that a candidate supported by the most liberal elements of the DFL, i.e the "Madia/Franken group", would favor alternative forms of marriage. Madia is promising to work for this, but is he sincere?

The Jigar Ashwin Madia, who ten short years ago was President of the University of Minnesota Student Associating, was not pro-gay. When Madia announced his intentions to run for congress, one former MSA member wrote a letter to the editor describing him as "virulently homophobic"

Madia: More Gay News. Madia: More East Coast Ties.

For a guy who claims to be both a "social moderate" and a "Minnesotan", Jigar Aswhin Madia is still attracting much attention from East Coast GLBT publications.

From Bay Windows - "New England's Largest GLBT Newspaper." -

Gay Marriage: "Despite his progressive views on GLBT rights and marriage equality, Madia is a self-described 'social moderate,' going so far as to poach the right-wing mantel of being 'pro-family.' ... 'So I don’t view it as all that liberal a position', he added. 'I think it’s a pretty moderate and measured position. I am in favor of families.' "

The writer of the article is correct, he did "poach the right-wing mantel of being pro-family." It's all part of the act.

Recent East Coast Connections: "Ashwin Madia is a lucky guy. Not only did the Minnesota congressional candidate have the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Boston City Councilor Mike Ross as the Democratic National Convention in Denver last month; now, Ross is helping Madia, a Marine Corps lawyer and Iraq War veteran, raise money for his bid to become the first Indian-American in Congress. Ross and a host of other local notables, including fellow city councilors John Connolly and John Tobin, state Rep. Linda Dorcena Forry and Democratic fundraisers Alan Solomon and Steve Grossman, are holding a fundraiser for Madia on Sept. 28. Madia has another local connection in the form of campaign manager Stuart Rosenberg, who formerly worked for Ross and managed Forry’s 2005 special election to the legislature." ... "The fundraiser takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at Lir Irish Pub and Restaurant in Boston. Yes, the Indian-American guy will apparently be knocking back the pints on his trip to Boston rather than brunching at Kashmir. When in Rome. 'Well,' he laughed, 'we figured there’s probably more Irish people than Indians in Boston.' "

East Coast Ashwin: Madia a Recipient in $5 Million HCAN Ad Campaign.

"Health Care for America Now" is another East Coast based socialistic arm of the Democratic Party that this is supporting Jigar Aswhin Madia. HCAN describes itself as "progressive." Locally, the HCAN attacks ads are already running on TV. When you see these ads, remember this: Madia: Socialized Medicine.

(The Politico) Yesterday, Health Care for America Now lauded Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). Today, the progressive health reform group is bashing Arizona Sen. John McCain and seven of his fellow Republicans.

The group launched a nearly $5 million ad campaign questioning why McCain and fellow Republicans favor health care policies that would leave consumers to fight insurance companies alone. The campaign will run for the next two weeks on radio and television and in direct mail and phone calls.

The McCain ad features a woman suffering from cancer who says under McCain’s plan she could lose her employer-based coverage and be unable to buy insurance on her own because of her pre-existing condition.

“He wants me to fight cancer and the insurance companies?” she asks. “Fine. I’ll take you both on.”

A similar ad targets Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.) and Reps. Ric Keller (R-Fla.), John R. Kuhl (R-N.Y.) and Tim Walberg (R-Mich.). It also targets Republican candidates Blaine Luetkemeyer in Missouri, Marty Ozinga in Illinois and Erik Paulsen in Minnesota.

Madia: Mythical Minnesotan

A local blogger was looking at a news profile of Jigar Aswhin Madia this past week and questioned the claim that's he's lived in Minnesota's Third Congressional District for "13 years."

"In the District 13 years? That is an outrageous lie. He hasn't even lived here for 13 months!"

She called the Madia Campaign and they defended his residency assertion with a peculiar response: "his mailing address has been here for 13 years".

http://theactivistnextdoor.blogspot.com/2008/10/continued-lies-from-madi...

Where was his mailing address? At a UPS Store? If a Canadian citizen had some mail delivered his his uncle's house in the United States, would that make him a legal resident of the U.S.?

The information Madia provided in his profile, doesn't match up with what he offered in a letter- to-the-editor earlier this year.

"We moved across the nation as I was growing up, and came to Minnesota when I was in high school - I went to Osseo Senior High. I then went to the University, where I served as student body president, and worked hard to keep tuition costs low so that education remained affordable to students from all backgrounds. After graduation, I moved to New York for law school."

http://www.mndaily.com/2008/01/24/young-people-and-their-place-process-0

Questions have been raised about Madia's residency since his law license was suspended last summer. Neither Madia nor his campaign have been upfront about where young Ashwin has been living since high school (more importantly - the past two years). He needs to be forthright about where he's been living - "my mailing address was in Plymouth" doesn't' cut it. The claim that he's lived in the district for 13 years, when there is evidence to suggest otherwise, is false and misleading.

With Madia traveling to Boston, New York, and Hollywood to raise campaign money, he could argue that he's been too busy to answer questions honestly. But Madia should have the time, even though he still claims his occupation is "attorney", he doesn't have a job.

A voter and true resident of the Minnesota's Third Congressional District asked Jigar Ashwin Madia a simple question about his residency after last night's debate -he refused to answer.

"I approached Madia after the debate- I said "you didn't answer the question- how long have you lived in the district"- Madia gave me a smile and said something like "yeah, I did answer it"-- I said "no you didn't and it's a really simple question- your Policy Director has indicated you moved here a year ago, you went to high school for 1 or 2 years here- so is it 3 years that you've lived in the district?" Madia refused to answer me--I asked "Why do the Sun newspapers report that you've been in the district for 13 years? A staff member of yours said it's because your mail has been delivered here for 13 years, so is that how long you've lived here?". He gave me a little patronizing smile and nod and told me to set up a meeting with him sometime then had his Policy Director talk to me.

Mr. Madia needs to set up a meeting with me to answer an EXTREMELY SIMPLE question- how long have you lived in the district? Really? Is this the type of person you want representing you?"

Dole would bring integrity, leadership to highest office
BY BY Jigar [sic]

Jigar Ashwin Madia has never held public political office. One minute he says he'll raise taxes and the next it's "no, I never said that." There is no real voting record to judge him on. Here's a look-see at what Madia has written. http://www.mndaily.com/1996/11/04/dole-would-bring-integrity-leadership-...

Madia writes about integrity. In the past few months young Ashwin has shown that he has no integrity at all. More on that later

Madia on unions: The NEA is a powerful teachers union known for opposing such reforms as performance-based pay as well as state and national testing standards. Jaime Escalante, the award-winning Calculus teacher whose story inspired the movie "Stand and Deliver," said, "Unions are more interested in politics than kids." President Clinton's hands are tied on this issue, as the Democratic National Committee has accepted more than $3.5 million from the NEA since 1993. In fact, Clinton, under pressure from the NEA, actually reversed positions on a reform bill that would have allowed poor children in the District of Columbia to receive grants to attend better schools. Madia is now taking money from big unions by promising to take away the employee right to a private vote.

Madia was supportive of tax cuts: Dole supports reform, and will be forced, regardless of his position, to reform entitlements, which will support our generation. The reason is simple -- if Dole is elected, it will be primarily on the basis of his proposed 15 percent tax cut, and consequently this cut must be priority number one for Dole. This cut cannot be made without entitlement reform. Entitlement reform is inevitable under a Dole administration -- excellent for our generation. Madia now supports eliminating tax cuts and is proposing tax increases.

Madia preaches integrity: Madia got the DFL endorsement, after stating he voted for Al Gore in 2000. MPR caught him in this lie and his campaign responded by saying he "flubbed" the answer. When Madia's law license was suspended, he blamed his parents for "overlooking" renewal papers. He's received bad grades for his misleading campaign ads. His campaign has made the news for criminal acts. He still is saying he's lived in the district for 13 years when that is not even close to the being true. He continues to advertise himself as a practicing attorney when the fact is he's unemployed.

Madia: Another Carpetbagger Who Says One Thing and Does Another.

The Employee Free Choice Act...

Back to page top

The Employee Free Choice Act bill is written in legalese, so it is understandable why there is a lot of misunderstanding.

“… If the Board finds that a majority of the employees in a unit appropriate for bargaining has signed valid authorizations designating the individual or labor organization specified in the petition as their bargaining representative and that no other individual or labor organization is currently certified or recognized as the exclusive representative of any of the employees in the unit, the Board shall not direct an election but shall certify the individual or labor organization as the representative…”
(http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:4:./temp/~c110i5fJkz::)

Some events have to happen before the NLRB decides not to direct an election for a union:
1. A majority of employees must sign valid authorizations.
2. The NLRB investigates. And I assume if there is something illegal, the employer or conscientious employees would speak up.

If these things do not happen, then the secret ballot is still OK to use. If a majority of workers in a workplace publicly sign valid cards saying they want to join a union and the NLRB can verify there was no illegal pressure, why do the workers need to take a private vote? Would the outcome be different with no influence by either unions or employers?

And the concerns about unions using pressure to card signs? If there are vigorous investigations, and I think there should be, once you catch a specific union doing something illegal, shouldn’t the NLRB always be suspicious of that union? Could this bill encourage more people to follow the law because not following the law is more damaging?

With the private vote, are there cases where employers have tried to influence the vote by workers to be against a union?

Now, Rep. Erik Paulsen has said he opposes the Employee Free Choice Act because it takes away the right to vote. Rep. Paulsen has been a Representative in the Minnesota House for 14 years. He is knowledgable in reading and writing bills and laws. For him to make a mistake in reading any bill is astounding. I am stunned at Rep. Paulsen’s opinion on this issue. Why should he oppose this bill?

How the Employee Free Choice Act Takes Away Workers' Rights
http://www.heritage.org/research/Labor/bg2027.cfm

Does a ballot cast in private or a card signed in public better reveal a worker's true preference about whether to join a union? A private vote is the obvious answer, but organized labor has nonetheless made the misleadingly named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA, H.R. 800) its highest legislative priority.

It's no coincidence that Big Labor has been giving big money candidates to who support the EFCA, like Al Franken and Aswhin Madia Franken. Where does big labor get its money? They take it out of worker paychecks. Besides paying money to candidates like Madia and Franken, union officials also receive big paychecks.

The Real Goal: Improving Union Finances. Unions know that private ballots best reveal workers' desires and that card-check organizing would not address, and could exacerbate, the alleged shortcomings of private elections. Yet they still favor card checks over private ballots. This is because their real aim is to reverse the labor movement's long-term decline. Unions are harder to sell to workers today than they were in the manufacturing economy of two generations ago. Today's jobs require unique skills and talents that do not lend themselves to general representation. Most workers in the modern economy do not feel that union membership provides benefits worth the 1 percent to 2 percent of their salary that they would have to pay in dues.

Even union workers earning low-wages are forced to pay hundreds of dollars a year to Big Labor, via a 'union tax.' Much of this money has ended up in the pockets of Al Franken and Aswhin Madia.

Minnesota Poll: Obama, McCain are dead even in state

Who would have believed this a few months ago when Obama had a 13 point lead?
With 51 days before Election Day, Barack Obama and John McCain are tied with 45 percent support, raising the stakes in the campaign.

Quote from the Red Star:
Let's look at the Obama main strategy: A guy running for president with 143 days in the Senate and no governing experience, questioning the … read more experience of the vice presidential candidate - who is more experienced than he is. Ya think people might be noticing that and it's coming back to bite him? This is the last issue he should be talking about and this is all he and his followers obsess on. Speaking objectively, his campaign manager should be fired yesterday. It's looking more and more like a Reagan/Carter election and Obama's going to bring down a whole lot of Democrats if he doesn't change direction. But as a conservative, I say, keep attacking Palin!

If people are to discuss...

Back to page top

If people are to discuss whether Sen. Obama’s plan for Iraq or Sen. McCain’s plan for Iraq is better, they should base judgment not on what biased writers write, but on their actual plans. So I looked up both candidates’ plans and wrote a summary of each.

A summary of Sen. Obama’s plan for Iraq is to initiate a responsible withdrawal of 1 to 2 brigades per month for 16 months, until the summer of 2010, with adjustments for conditions in Iraq and with consultation of military commanders and the Iraqi government. At the end of the withdrawal, a residual force would remain in the region for missions against terrorists and as protection for American personnel. The plan would also provide training and support for Iraqi security forces as long as Iraqi leaders worked towards political reconciliation. With the withdrawal, Iraqis would be encouraged to take more responsibility for their country’s security. Emphasis will be placed on Iraqi representatives from all levels of society to meet to discuss solutions to important issues like oil revenue sharing, disputed territories, new elections, and reform of Iraqi security forces. Our government would engage diplomatic efforts with Iraq’s neighbors to secure Iraq’s borders, to support reconciliation of sectarian groups, to reduce interference of other countries in Iraqi affairs, and to isolate al Qaeda. Our government will work with the international community to aid displaced Iraqi refuges and help them find sanctuary back inside Iraq.
If, at any time, the need arose to prevent genocidal violence, our government along with other nations would intervene militarily.
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/iraq/#judgment

A summary of Sen. McCain’s plan for Iraq first concedes President Bush’s badly conceived military strategy that almost doomed our operations in Iraq. It then goes on to discuss the combined effect of the Surge and the actions by Iraqis to reclaim their country. Sen. McCain calls for the Iraqi government to continue to pass more of the benchmarks set by the U.S. and to find jobs for those Iraqis that aided to reduce the violence in Iraq. Sen. McCain believes that upcoming Iraqi elections are important to lead to better leadership among the Iraqi people.
Sen. McCain’s plan calls for the Iraqi government to use part of its budget surplus to employ Iraqis to restore basic services. The plan also depends on those in the international community, specifically Iraq’s neighbors, to send money to Iraq to aid in rebuilding the country. With the incoming money, Iraqi leaders can focus on restoring basic services – clean water, garbage collection, and electricity – and this would lead to economic growth.
Sen. McCain’s plan calls for the international community to apply pressure on Syria and Iran to end support for militants in Iraq. Sen. McCain would call for a strong show of military force to deter intervention in Iraq by Iran.
Finally, Sen. John McCain calls for honest and candid discussion about the future of Iraq.
http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/fdeb03a7-30b0-4ece-8e34-4c7ea...

One other note:
Sen. McCain also has on his website the following comment:

Comprehensive Spending Controls: John McCain will institute broad reforms to control spending:
The McCain administration would reserve all savings from victory in the Iraq and Afghanistan operations in the fight against Islamic extremists for reducing the deficit. Since all their costs were financed with deficit spending, all their savings must go to deficit reduction.
http://www.johnmccain.com/Issues/JobsforAmerica/reform.htm

I’m confused by what this means in connection with Sen. McCain’s plan for Iraq, so if anyone can clarify what Sen. McCain has written here, thank you.

More accurately, it's fewer guns and no more butter.

CentralLion (was that the name you posted under?), I will try to break it down for you.

Senator McCain is confident that the troop surge in Iraq, which had bi-partisan support, is working. When is the last time that John Freakin Kerry uttered the word "quagmire", when he wasn't referring to his wife Maria Teresa Thierstein Simões-Ferreira Heinz, aka Teresa Heinz Kerry.

The troop surge has pushed Coalition Forces in Iraq ever closer to proclaiming total victory. Once victory is achieved, the U.S. can begin reducing its presence. That will save money. The money saved will be used to offset deficit spending. It will not be spent on needless social programs or other pork projects.

John McCain has faith in our armed forces and allies. Barack Obama does not.

Alrightie then?

With my previous post, I...

Back to page top

With my previous post, I wanted to establish a neutral comparison between the plans of the two candidates. This allows me to build a strong case for Sen. Barack Obama’s plan for Iraq.

Bigfoot responded, “The troop surge has pushed Coalition Forces in Iraq ever closer to proclaiming total victory.” Since the definition of “victory” by Republicans has been vague, I will use what Senator John McCain has said, “When Iraqi forces can safeguard their own country, American troops can return home.” This will do for a definition of “victory” for now.

In order for the Iraqi forces to take the place of our forces, several problems need to be addressed:
The Iraqi army faces a strong insurgency, with infiltration by insurgents into the Iraqi army. What is the cause for the insurgency: a reaction to the U.S. occupation of Iraq or is it an attempt by a group to gain control of Iraq? If it is a reaction to the U.S. occupation, the sooner we leave, the more Iraqis will focus on rebuilding their country. This clearly favors Obama’s plan because of his timeline. If it is an attempt to gain control, neither candidates’ plan is favored over the other as Sen. Obama has added consultation of military commanders and the Iraqi government to allow him to make adjustments to his plan and keep forces in Iraq.

Iraq’s neighboring countries are another problem. With Sen. McCain’s tendency to follow President Bush’s foreign policy and Sen. McCain’s temperament and Gov. Palin’s lack of experience in foreign affairs, it is unlikely that talks with Iran and/or Syria would be productive. It would be doubtful that Sen. McCain could get Iraq's neighboring countries to unite to pay for Iraq’s reconstruction. There is also the possibility that Sen. McCain could lead us into a 3rd war with Iran. With Sen. Obama’s intelligence and Sen. Biden’s experience in foreign affairs, they will be more able to unite other nations to support rebuilding Iraq and bringing peace to the region.

Among the other problems facing the Iraqi army are: inadequate equipment and supplies to use in combat, ineffective leadership and corruption within the Iraqi government, lack of military medical services to aid wounded soldiers in combat. With Sen. McCain’s tendency to follow President Bush’s foreign policy and President Bush’s lack of leadership to address these problems, I would favor Sen. Obama over Sen. McCain.

I conclude with what Bigfoot has written, “Once victory is achieved, the U.S. can begin reducing its presence. That will save money. The money saved will be used to offset deficit spending.” So, if we do not achieve “victory,” either by losing the war or continuing with a tie, the U.S. cannot reduce its presence, the U.S. will not save money, and our deficit will increase.

I'd rather vote for Senator Barack Obama for President.

Sen. McCain is known to have a temper. With his aggressive nature, I'd say it would be impossible for him to negotiate a treaty with Syria or Iran. How well would Gov. Palin do in negotiations with the President of Iran?

Also, how would a McCain administration correct the Bush administration's blunders in infrastructure in Iraq? That takes more than talk of "victory" and reforming corrupt Republicans.

Dear CentralLion: No, that's not the "best" I can do, but it should suffice.

You, like most liberals are more concerned about getting Barack Hussein Obama elected, than winning the war in Iraq. John McCain has stated he would rather win the war than the election. Obama is promising to surrender the war in order to win the election. That's a key difference in character between the two.

Could Obama negotiate with anyone without using a teleprompter? Speaking from the mind is beyond his pay grade. He'd have to send his Secretary of State, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, on behalf of the country.

Chilling Facts
More proof of global cooling;

The nation's oldest continuously published periodical is not only forecasting a cooler winter, but says we can expect a period of global cooling in the coming decades.

The 2009 issue of the Old Farmer's Almanac hits newsstands Tuesday. It says, "Sunspot cycles and their effects on oceans correlate with climate changes. Studying these and other factors suggest that cold, not warm, climate may be our future."

The periodical's editor-in-chief says global cooling trends could affect the earth for the next half century, depending on man's influence. The Almanac, which was established in 1792 and has 18.5 million readers, predicts heavy snow this winter from the Ozarks into Southern New England. It also forecasts snow for parts of Northern Texas.

Fudgefactor is not yet aware of this, or perhaps was too busy posting under multiple names over the weekend to respond. At last check, Wikipedia had not yet revised it's Farmer's Almanac to refute their latest findings. Fudgefactor could be working to arrange for that.

Palin Bounce erodes Barry Obama lead.

Hopefully this is from a non partisan news source. Oh yeah, it's from those wonderful folks at MSNBC.

The map 50 days out: The Palin bounce has erased Obama's lead in the national polls, and it has now cut into his electoral-vote advantage, according to NBC’s latest map. Obama holds a 233-227 edge here, down from his 228-200 advantage from last week. The biggest changes: We moved Florida -- with its 27 electoral votes -- from Toss-up to Lean McCain, and New Mexico from Toss-up to Lean Obama. We also shifted Oregon and Washington from Likely Obama to Lean Obama, as well as Alaska, Georgia, North Dakota and South Dakota from Lean McCain to Likely McCain. The good news for McCain is that the map looks better for him than at any point so far in this race, and many of those red states that looked like opportunities for Obama (AK, GA, IN) look to be longer shots for him. The bad news for McCain is that given the wave his campaign has been riding from the Palin bounce, is this as good as it gets? If he isn’t leading in some states now, he might not ever lead in them. Bottom line: You'll know the map is starting to move in one direction or the other if either Pennsylvania or Florida moves back into Toss-up before Election Day.

Obama delays troops withdrawal?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Barack Obama’s campaign denied a New York Post report Monday that said the Democratic presidential candidate privately tried to persuade Iraqi political leaders to stall an agreement on scaling back American troops in Iraq while publicly campaigning for a speedy withdrawal.

Obama’s request for a delay was a major theme of his talks with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said in an interview with the Post.

Obama also tried to persuade the U.S. commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to offer a “realistic withdrawal date,” the Post reported. The commanders declined, the newspaper said.

A top foreign policy adviser to Obama sat in on the meetings between the candidate and Iraqi officials this summer and said no such conversations occurred, the campaign said Monday.

Obama has said he wants U.S. troops out of Iraq as rapidly as possible, and while the U.S. negotiates a Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq, Obama wants that brought to Congress.

According to the report in the Post, Obama said he wants the Bush administration excluded from the negotiations, given its “state of weakness and political confusion.”

The New York Post article raises doubts about Obama’s call to withdraw combat troops by 2010, especially if his request for a delayed agreement had been accepted. By the time a new Iraqi government is elected, fully operational, can form a new coalition government and comes up with a draft accord, it will already by May 2010, the Post noted. It could take another six months for the draft to be passed into law.

Now I can buy a toaster;

Republicans had fun giving out tire gauges after Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) suggested folks save energy by inflating their tires. Now, some toaster tomfoolery may be in the offing.

Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) said on NBC’s “Today” show: “Our tax plan would take that tax cut of another $130 billion that John [McCain] wants to give to people making over $250,000 next year, not let it go forward and give it to the middle class — the very people who desperately need it to stay in their homes, to buy food, to take care of the gas, to fill up their tank, to be able to go out and buy a toaster, to employ people.”

The McCain campaign’s Joe Pounder (“his real name,” as The New Yorker recently put it) crowed in his morning e-mail to reporters: “[D]id you catch Joe Biden saying this morning that their tax cut will allow Americans to buy a ‘toaster’? Nothing says a sound economic plan like ‘buying a toaster.’”

Republicans also posted a YouTube clip of an exchange between Biden and the “Today” host, Meredith Vieira, in which he disputed the idea that economists have questioned raising taxes in a recessionary economy.

VIEIRA: “Senator, you and Senator Obama are calling for tax increases on the wealthy. And there are many economists who say that that would hurt the economy even more.”

BIDEN: “I don't know any economists who are saying that.”

Expect to see a list by the end of the day.

Polls: McCain, Obama tied in 5 battleground states

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/17/battleground.poll/index.html
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- New polls in five battleground states that could decide the presidency suggest the fight for the White House between Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama remains a dead heat.
A new poll out Wednesday shows a virtually tied race between John McCain and Barack Obama in key states.

A new poll out Wednesday shows a virtually tied race between John McCain and Barack Obama in key states.

The CNN/Time Magazine/Opinion Research Corp. polls out Wednesday indicate the race for Florida and its 27 electoral votes is tied.

Florida decided the 2000 election between then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush and then-Vice President Al Gore. Four years ago, President Bush won Florida by 5 points over Sen. John Kerry.

The new survey, conducted Sunday through Tuesday, indicates 48 percent of registered voters in Florida back Republican presidential candidate McCain for president and an equal amount support Obama, the Democratic candidate.

"Florida is a state that would be directly affected by offshore drilling, but voters in that state may be more affected by high gas prices," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Two-thirds of all Floridians favor increased offshore drilling for oil and gas." Video Watch how the candidates are doing in key states »

The small Obama advantage is well within the poll's sampling error, making the race a tie. President Bush's narrow victory in Ohio four years ago clinched his re-election.

A CNN poll of polls in Ohio, also out Wednesday, gives McCain a 3-point lead, 48-45 percent. The poll of polls is an average of the latest public opinion surveys in the state.

"In Ohio, higher-income voters have moved more toward McCain in the last few weeks, while lower-income voters have trended toward Obama," Holland said. "It looks like economic issues are increasingly dividing voters along income lines -- at least in Ohio -- in the classic pattern that we have seen in previous elections."

A part-time English teacher at Metropolitan State College is under fire from conservatives after he allegedly told students to write essays critiquing Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The adjunct instructor, Andrew Hallam, has not been available for comment since one of his students went to a Denver TV station with an allegation that he bullied and harrassed conservative students.

Hallam is teaching two classes this semester, his first at Metro State, according to the school.

Today, Republican legislators in Colorado called for "immediate corrective action" against Hallam.

"Good grief, this is supposed to be an English class," Republican state Sen. Mike Kopp of Littleton stated on the GOP legislative website Coloradosenate.com.

"Once again, it looks like an academic at a publicly supported college in our state is using his classroom as a soapbox for his personal politics. And he is trampling on students' free speech in the process -- actually telling them what opinions they are allowed to express."

According to the conservative news website WorldNetDaily.com., Hallam assigned students to write about Palin, noting "her body language, facial expressions, the way she dressed, what she said and who she pointed out or talked about in her speech. How do these elements form a 'fairy tale' image about Sarah Palin as a person and as a politician that the Republican Party may wish its members and the American public to believe?"

The fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" is included in the class syllabus.

One of Hallam's students, Jana Barber, took her concerns about the assignment to KCNC4, which broadcast a story Wednesday night.

Barber spoke with the TV station and on the Mike Rosen radio show this morning, before filing a complaint against Hallam with the school later in the day, said Cathy Lucas, a spokeswoman for Metro State.

Lucas said Hallam made the assignment last Thursday. After consideration, he broadened it at the next class on Tuesday to allow students to write about Barack Obama, Joe Biden and John McCain, she said.

Barber has said other students had felt as she did, but so far none of those students have come forward, Lucas said. The university plans to interview students in the class before making a determination about the accusations.

Jana Barber is the sister of Matt Barber, director of cultural affairs for the conservative Liberty Counsel legal organization. Until June, Matt Barber held a similar title with Concerned Women for America, another conservative Christian organization.

Matt Barber told the WorldNetDaily.com. that Hallam was representative of "left-wing elitists throughout the media, academia and the larger Democratic Party."

"What's happening in that classroom represents a microcosm for what's happening with the angry left around the country," he said.

* Hi, I'm Andrew Hallam, I lack the common sense to consider that my actions might not be seen as harmless or proper......but hey, I'm still allowed to teach your kids.

Note-the above is satirical in nature and is not meant to be taken seriously.

Slick Willie admits he is smitten!
Bill Clinton: ‘Mistake to Underestimate’ Palin

Bill Clinton said in an interview Thursday that “it would be a mistake to underestimate” Sarah Palin, adding that he’s not surprised by the bounce John McCain saw in the polls after naming the Alaska governor as his running mate.

“She is an instinctively effective candidate with a compelling story,” Clinton told CNBC. “And I think it was exciting to some that she was a woman, that she is from Alaska.”

He said Palin grew up in a culture that is probably “well to the right” of most Americans, but that she didn’t “define herself in those terms.”

Clinton said she “handled herself well,” but reiterated his support for the Democratic ticket.

“I think that you know, I disagree with them on many issues and that’s why aside from my party affiliation I would be for (Barack) Obama and (Joe) Biden anyway,” he said. “But I get why she has done so well. It would be a mistake to underestimate her. She has got — her intuitive skills are significant.”

McCain trashes Obama-Fannie connection
by Mosheh Oinounou

The messiah has no clothes.

GREEN BAY, WI — Two can play at the guilt-by-association game.

With Democrats continuing to hammer McCain for campaign connections to former lobbyists as well as receiving economic advice from Phil Gramm, the McCain campaign is going after Obama Thursday for relying on the counsel of former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines.

In his new TV spot, “Advice,” McCain accuses Obama of having “no background in economics” and relying on Raines for advice. (above)

“Under Raines, Fannie Mae committed ‘extensive financial fraud.’ Raines made millions. Fannie Mae collapsed. Taxpayers? Stuck with the bill. Barack Obama. Bad advice. Bad instincts. Not ready to lead,” a narrator concludes.

McCain echoed that note during a rally this afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

“When I pushed legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Senator Obama was silent. He didn’t lift a finger to avert this crisis,” McCain said. “While the leaders of Fannie and Freddie were lining the pockets of his campaign, and they were sowing the seeds of the financial crisis we see today and they also enriched themselves with millions of dollars in payments.”

The Obama camp shot back with a twofer. First Raines responded to the ad by denying any advisory role.

“I am not an adviser to Barack Obama, nor have I provided his campaign with advice on housing or economic matters,” Raines said.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton also chimed in: “This is another flat-out lie from a dishonorable campaign that is increasingly incapable of telling the truth. Frank Raines has never advised Senator Obama about anything — ever. And by the way, someone whose campaign manager and top advisor worked and lobbied for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac shouldn’t be throwing stones from his seven glass houses.”

Was that rap tune east coast or west coast? I always confuse the two. I know that P. Diddy is supporting Obama and he's from New York, so I'll guess these guys are west coast rappers.

I heard Joe Biden is going to do his own rap song. He's going to plagiarize as many of the lyrics as he can, get really drunk, and sing it himself. The chorus will go something like, "I'm Joseph Biden, Joseph Biden ... raise your tax up!, raise your tax up! ..."

The Church of Oprah...

The Church of Oprah Exposed

Queen Oprah has long told viewers what to read, what to eat, what movies too watch, that they should listen to Dr. Phil, and how to commit random acts of kindness. The list keeps growing.

On religion she preaches from the Book of Oprah, and she has some unique ideas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW4LLwkgmqA&NR=1

With politics she's a little more sneaky. By law, she can't allow one candidate to appear and not another due to equal time rules. (Obama's previous appearances on her show are credited with giving him considerable name recognition nationally) Oprah has vetoed the idea of V.P. candidate Sarah Palin appearing on her show. This was to be expected because she already had snubbed Hillary during the primaries. "... Winfrey, who made her fortune off appealing to women, would desert the first serious female candidate to vie for her party's nomination, Hillary Clinton, another Democrat, in favor of a male candidate, Obama."
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/09/sarah-palin-opr.html

Oprah told her good friend Larry King that in supporting Obama, "that my value to him, my support of him, is probably worth more than any check.” But In fact, the Church of Oprah - minus the Oprah Winfrey Show - has been busy providing lots of checks for Obama. Oprah hosted one Hollywood fundraiser that raised $3 million.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/oprahobama.html
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/12/AR200809...

Why worry about equal time for guests when she can create campaign mega-funds from her home? The Oprah Winfrey Show has become but a small part of the Church of Oprah. Oprah has many other forums for peddling her influence. As the four candidates tour the talk show circuit before the election, they won't be interviewed the Reverend Winfrey. This could be a blessing.

Obama's Social Security Whopper
September 20, 2008

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obamas_social_security_whopper.h...

He tells Social Security recipients their money would now be in the stock market under McCain's plan. False.
Summary
In Daytona Beach, Obama said that "if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would've had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week." He referred to "elderly women" at risk of poverty, and said families would be scrambling to support "grandmothers and grandfathers."

That's not true. The plan proposed by President Bush and supported by McCain in 2005 would not have allowed anyone born before 1950 to invest any part of their Social Security taxes in private accounts. All current retirees would be covered by the same benefits they are now.

Obama would have been correct to say that many workers under age 58 would have had some portion of their Social Security benefits affected by the current market turmoil – if they had chosen to participate. And market drops would be a worry for those who retire in future decades. But current retirees would not have been affected.
Analysis
In our "Scaring Seniors" article posted Sept. 19 we took apart a claim in an Obama-Biden ad that McCain somehow supported a 50 percent cut in Social Security benefits, which is simply false. Then, on Saturday Sept. 20, Sen. Barack Obama personally fed senior citizens another whopper, this one a highly distorted claim about the private Social Security accounts that McCain supports.

What Obama Said

In Daytona Beach, Florida, Obama said in prepared remarks released by the campaign:

Obama, Sept. 20: And I'll protect Social Security, while John McCain wants to privatize it. Without Social Security half of elderly women would be living in poverty - half. But if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would've had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week. Millions would've watched as the market tumbled and their nest egg disappeared before their eyes. Millions of families would've been scrambling to figure out how to give their mothers and fathers, their grandmothers and grandfathers, the secure retirement that every American deserves. So I know Senator McCain is talking about a "casino culture" on Wall Street - but the fact is, he's the one who wants to gamble with your life savings.

That's untrue. All current retirees would be covered by exactly the same Social Security benefits they are now under what the Obama campaign likes to call the "Bush-McCain privatization plan," which Bush pushed for unsuccessfully in 2005.

Who Would Have Been Affected

As the White House spelled out at the time, on page 5 of the document titled "Strengthening Social Security for the 21st Century," released in February 2005:

Bush Plan: Personal retirement accounts would be phased in. To ease the transition to a personal retirement account system, participation would be phased in according to the age of the worker. In the first year of implementation, workers currently between age 40 and 54 (born 1950 through 1965 inclusive) would have the option of establishing personal retirement accounts. In the second year, workers currently between age 26 and 54 (born 1950 through 1978 inclusive) would be given the option and by the end of the third year, all workers born in 1950 or later who want to participate in personal retirement accounts would be able to do so.

Nobody born before Jan. 1, 1950 could have participated, and anyone born on that date would be 58 years old now. The earliest possible age for receiving Social Security retirement benefits is 62, for early retirement at reduced benefits. Full retirement age is currently 66, and scheduled to go up to age 67 in coming years.

It is certainly true that the stock market carries risks, as recent events remind us. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down nearly 17 percent for this year, for example, and despite gains in other years it is still barely above where it was at the start of 2000. But historically there have also been rewards for those who make diversified investments and hold for long periods. When Obama spoke, the Dow Jones average still stood 305 percent higher than it had at the start of the 1990's.

Disappearing nest eggs?

Hard-Hitting McCain Ad Links Obama to Chicago Political ‘Machine’

John McCain’s campaign released one of its hardest hitting ads in this election on Monday, aiming to ratchet up the guilt-by-association game by linking Barack Obama to convicted felon Tony Rezko.

The new spot, “Chicago Machine” also connects the Democratic presidential nominee to three prominent Illinois politicians– former U.S. Commerce Secretary Bill Daley, Illinois state Senate President Emil Jones and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich — all of whom have faced criticism for questionable ties to businessmen and political power brokers.

The ad claims Obama is “born of the corrupt Chicago political machine,” before calling Jones his “political godfather” and Rezko his “money man.”

Jones and Blagojevich are under an “ethics cloud,” says the McCain camp, relating to investigations into nepotism and favors to political donors by the two pols. As for Daley, the ad suggests cronysim is at play for the former Fannie Mae “lobbyist” and brother of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.

The ad is to be released nationally. The Obama campaign responded by saying the Democrat is the true maverick when it comes to ethics reform.

“It’s no coincidence that on the very day newspapers reported that John McCain’s campaign manager was paid $2 million to lobby against tighter regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the McCain campaign would launch this false, gratuitous attack,” said spokesman Bill Burton.

“Barack Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate as an independent Democrat. He took on the Chicago Democratic organization in a primary to win a seat in the U.S. Senate. And in both Illinois and Washington, he has challenged the Old Guard for landmark ethics reforms,” Burton said.

McCain campaign advisers say that they decided to make the ad in response to the association game played by Obama’s campaign, which most recently issued a Spanish language ad linking McCain to Rush Limbaugh on the topic of immigration.

The first ad to hit Obama for would-be shady associations came out last week. It tied the Illinois senator to former Fannie Mae executives Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson.

Still untouched by the McCain camp are Obama’s connections to Weather Underground co-founder Bill Ayers and Obama’s controversial former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama called Wright a “legitimate political issue” back in the spring. McCain advisers say those names and associations will not be off-limits and could come up in the last 43 days before the Nov. 4 election.

Hillary Warned Democrats Months Ago:

Who is Bill Ayers? 2008 CAMPAIGN | Former radical or respected prof, he's a liability if Obama's nominated, Hillary warns - April 18, 2008 http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/902213,CST-NWS-ayers18.artic...

Eight months ago, Hillary Clinton warned that the Obama-Ayers connection is "an issue certainly Republicans will be raising" should Obama be the Democratic nominee for president."

When Clinton made this statement, it became an issue that Democrats had raised. Democrats made the point and now Republicans are making the same point. Obama has not come clean about his long term relationship with terrorist Bill Ayers.

During last night's Presidential Debate, Obama continued to dodge the issue. He spoke like a leisure suit lawyer when explaining the role he had with Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Board. Obama mentioned names of other board members; What Obama didn't tell us about is the other involvements he's had with Ayers: "In the mid-1990s, Ayers and Dohrn (Ayers' wife and fellow terrorist) hosted a meet-and-greet at their house to introduce Obama to their neighbors during his first run for the Illinois Senate. In 2001, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama's campaign. Ayers also served alongside Obama between December 1999 and December 2002 on the board of the not-for-profit Woods Fund of Chicago. That board met four times a year, and members would see each other at occasional dinners the group hosted."

While Obama continues to defend Ayers because "it was forty years ago", here's Bill Ayers in 2001: A book Ayers penned about those years, Fugitive Days, landed him in hot water on Sept. 11, 2001. That morning, the New York Times ran a story about the book in which Ayers said, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." Ayers' statement was made before the World Trade Center attacks, but its timing led some to believe it was in response."

Democrats brought up the Obama-Ayers connection months ago. Republicans are asking questions now. Obama still hasn't come clean.

How the Democrats Created...

How the Democrats Created the Financial Crisis: Kevin Hassett

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aSKSoiNbnQY0
Sept. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The financial crisis of the past year has provided a number of surprising twists and turns, and from Bear Stearns Cos. to American International Group Inc., ambiguity has been a big part of the story.

Why did Bear Stearns fail, and how does that relate to AIG? It all seems so complex.

But really, it isn't. Enough cards on this table have been turned over that the story is now clear. The economic history books will describe this episode in simple and understandable terms: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac exploded, and many bystanders were injured in the blast, some fatally.

Fannie and Freddie did this by becoming a key enabler of the mortgage crisis. They fueled Wall Street's efforts to securitize subprime loans by becoming the primary customer of all AAA-rated subprime-mortgage pools. In addition, they held an enormous portfolio of mortgages themselves.

In the times that Fannie and Freddie couldn't make the market, they became the market. Over the years, it added up to an enormous obligation. As of last June, Fannie alone owned or guaranteed more than $388 billion in high-risk mortgage investments. Their large presence created an environment within which even mortgage-backed securities assembled by others could find a ready home.

The problem was that the trillions of dollars in play were only low-risk investments if real estate prices continued to rise. Once they began to fall, the entire house of cards came down with them.

Turning Point

Take away Fannie and Freddie, or regulate them more wisely, and it's hard to imagine how these highly liquid markets would ever have emerged. This whole mess would never have happened.

It is easy to identify the historical turning point that marked the beginning of the end.

Back in 2005, Fannie and Freddie were, after years of dominating Washington, on the ropes. They were enmeshed in accounting scandals that led to turnover at the top. At one telling moment in late 2004, captured in an article by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Peter Wallison, the Securities and Exchange Comiission's chief accountant told disgraced Fannie Mae chief Franklin Raines that Fannie's position on the relevant accounting issue was not even ``on the page'' of allowable interpretations.

Then legislative momentum emerged for an attempt to create a ``world-class regulator'' that would oversee the pair more like banks, imposing strict requirements on their ability to take excessive risks. Politicians who previously had associated themselves proudly with the two accounting miscreants were less eager to be associated with them. The time was ripe.

Greenspan's Warning

The clear gravity of the situation pushed the legislation forward. Some might say the current mess couldn't be foreseen, yet in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road,'' he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.''

What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets.

Different World

If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.

But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn't even get the Senate to vote on the matter.

That such a reckless political stand could have been taken by the Democrats was obscene even then. Wallison wrote at the time: ``It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit. The Democrats and the few Republicans who oppose portfolio limitations could not possibly do so if their constituents understood what they were doing.''

Mounds of Materials

Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable. Many who opposed the bill doubtlessly did so for honorable reasons. Fannie and Freddie provided mounds of materials defending their practices. Perhaps some found their propaganda convincing.

But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.

Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.

Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.

There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.

Oh, and there is one little footnote to the story that's worth keeping in mind while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Senator John McCain was one of the three cosponsors of S.190, the bill that would have averted this mess.

The Down Jones Industrial Average has fallen 25 percent since Democrats took control of the House and Senate.

That's not spin, it's fact.

While you are correct that it is a fact, it's also a fact that there is no causal relationship.

What there is, is the GOP desperately trying to duck responsiblity for it's disasterous stewardship of government and the economy.

After most of this decade with government being in complete control of the GOP, the economy is a train wreck of epic and global proportions. Reasonable people are not going to give the GOP another chance to create another trainwreck - especially when the GOP is unabashed and unapologetic about "Staying The Course" with the philosophy that got us into this mess. The GOP had it's chance; it failed miserably and now the GOP will be in the political minority.

Obama goes too far in case against McCain

http://www.startribune.com/opinion/commentary/28668199.html?elr=KArksc8P...

From your local fish wrapper:

To listen to Sen. Barack Obama, Sen. John McCain is a Johnny-come-lately to the cause of regulating financial markets. "He has consistently opposed the sorts of common-sense regulations that might have lessened the current crisis," Obama said in New Mexico Thursday. "When I was warning about the danger ahead on Wall Street months ago because of the lack of oversight, Sen. McCain was telling the Wall Street Journal -- and I quote -- 'I'm always for less regulation.'"

But the full quotation from McCain's March interview with the Journal's editorial board belies Obama's one-sided rendition. The Republican candidate went on to say, "But I am aware of the view that there is a need for government oversight. I think we found this in the subprime lending crisis -- that there are people that game the system and if not outright broke the law, they certainly engaged in unethical conduct which made this problem worse. So I do believe that there is role for oversight."

It's fair to say that McCain has dramatically ramped up the regulatory rhetoric in the wake of the meltdown on Wall Street. Obama made the argument about the need for increased oversight much earlier. And McCain has generally taken an anti-regulatory stance, although not in all cases -- his support for federal regulation of tobacco and boxing being prominent counter-examples. ...

The "L" Word: It doesn't...

Back to page top

The "L" Word: It doesn't always mean liberal.

A double standard exists in politics with how and when the other "L" word is used. Democrats are much more apt to use it than Republicans. What is the other "L" word? The word is lie. Sometimes it is used in related forms, such as liar, lying, lied.

"Once considered politically out of bounds, the word “lie” — stated bluntly and unapologetically — has had its unveiling in the 2008 campaign. Rarely does a day go by when aides to the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, do not accuse the Republican ticket — John McCain, Sarah Palin, or both — of lies and lying.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/weekinreview/21healy.html?_r=1&ref=pol...

Angry Al Franken has written some mean-spirited books in which he calls people liars, e.g. "Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them." Angry Al tries to pass off fiction as truth because he is a liar. Angry Al is a known tax cheat.

When Ashwin Madia told Democrats he voted for Al Gore in 2000, he lied. He voted for George W. Bush. Madia lied, but his campaign says he "flubbed" the answer.

Hillary Clinton told a John Kerry-like story of encountering sniper fire. When questioned on the accuracy of her tale, she said she simply "misspoke." Hillary lied.

Joe Biden's long history of plagiarism hasn't been discussed much since he was selected to be Obama's running mate. During many of Biden's acts of plagiarism, he didn't tell the truth about his own background. Biden is a plagiarizing liar.

Barack Obama wants to be President of the United States of America. When he denied that knowing that his pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, preached such messages as "G$@ D&$# America" (self bleeped), he lied.

Going back ten years, when Bill Clinton said to the nation that he didn't have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky, he lied. Facing DNA evidence, liberal Democrats denied the "L" word, rationalizing that lying about sex isn't doesn't count. Bill lied, and tried to cover it up. This led to his being twice impeached.

Democrats are quick to use the "L" word when on the attack, but when it applies to one of their own the "L" word disappears from their vocabulary.

History will vindicate President Bush

http://www.startribune.com/opinion/commentary/28670069.html?elr=KArksc8P...

Upended by 9/11, he's since kept us safe and has made it easier for the next president to do so, too.

Last update: September 19, 2008 - 6:46 PM

WASHINGTON - For the last 150 years, most American war presidents -- most notably Lincoln, Wilson and Roosevelt -- have entered (or reentered) office knowing war was looming. Not so George W. Bush. Not so the war on terror. The 9/11 attacks literally came out of the blue.

Indeed, the three presidential campaigns between the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9/11 were the most devoid of foreign-policy debate of any in the 20th century. The commander-in-chief question that dominates our campaigns today was almost nowhere in evidence during our 1990s holiday from history.

When I asked President Bush during an interview Monday to reflect on this oddity, he cast himself back to early 2001, recalling what he expected his presidency would be about: education reform, tax cuts and military transformation from a Cold War structure to a more mobile force adapted to smaller-scale 21st-century conflict.

But a wartime president he became. And that is how history will both remember and judge him.

Getting a jump on history, many books have already judged him. The latest by Bob Woodward describes the commander in chief as unusually aloof and detached. A more favorably inclined biographer might have called it equanimity.

In the hour I spent with the president (devoted mostly to foreign policy), that equanimity was everywhere in evidence -- not the resignation of a man in the twilight of his presidency but a sense of calm and confidence in eventual historical vindication.

It is precisely that quality that allowed him to order the surge in Iraq in the face of intense opposition from the political establishment (of both parties), the foreign policy establishment (led by the feckless Iraq Study Group), the military establishment (as chronicled by Woodward) and public opinion itself. The surge then effected the most dramatic change in the fortunes of an American war since the summer of 1864.
That kind of resolve requires internal fortitude. Some have argued that too much reliance on this internal compass is what got us into Iraq in the first place. But Bush was hardly alone in that decision. He had a majority of public opinion, the commentariat and Congress with him. In addition, history has not yet rendered its verdict on the Iraq War. We can say that it turned out to be longer and more costly than expected, surely. But the question remains as to whether the now-likely outcome -- transforming a virulently aggressive enemy state in the heart of the Middle East into a strategic ally in the war on terror -- was worth it. I suspect the ultimate answer will be far more favorable than it is today.

When I asked the president about his one unambiguous achievement, keeping us safe for seven years -- about 6 1/2 years longer than anybody thought possible at the time of 9/11 -- he was quick to credit both the soldiers keeping the enemy at bay abroad and the posse of law enforcement and intelligence officials hardening our defenses at home.

But he alluded also to some of the measures he had undertaken, including "listening in on the enemy" and "asking hardened killers about their plans." The CIA has already told us that interrogation of high-value terrorists like Khalid Sheik Mohammed yielded more valuable intelligence than any other source. In talking about these measures, the president mentioned neither this testimony as to their efficacy nor the campaign of vilification against him that these measures occasioned. More equanimity still.

What the president did note with some pride, however, is that beyond preventing a second attack, he is bequeathing to his successor the kinds of powers and institutions the next president will need to prevent further attack and successfully prosecute the long war. And indeed, he does leave behind a Department of Homeland Security, reorganized intelligence services with newly developed capacities to share information, and a revised FISA regime that grants broader and modernized wiretapping authority.

In this respect, Bush is much like Truman, who developed the sinews of war for a new era (the Department of Defense, the CIA, the NSA), expanded the powers of the presidency, established a new doctrine for active intervention abroad, and ultimately engaged in a war (Korea) -- also absent an attack on the United States -- that proved highly unpopular.

So unpopular that Truman left office disparaged and highly out of favor. History has revised that verdict. I have little doubt that Bush will be the subject of a similar reconsideration.

FactChecking Obama He stuck...

FactChecking Obama

He stuck to the facts, except when he stretched them.

Summary
We checked the accuracy of Obama's speech accepting the Democratic nomination, and noted the following:

* Obama said he could "pay for every dime" of his spending and tax cut proposals "by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens." That's wrong – his proposed tax increases on upper-income individuals are key components of paying for his program, as well. And his plan, like McCain's, would leave the U.S. facing big budget deficits, according to independent experts.
* He twisted McCain's words about Afghanistan, saying, "When John McCain said we could just 'muddle through' in Afghanistan, I argued for more resources." Actually, McCain said in 2003 we "may" muddle through, and he recently also called for more troops there.
* He said McCain would fail to lower taxes for 100 million Americans while his own plan would cut taxes for 95 percent of "working" families. But an independent analysis puts the number who would see no benefit from McCain's plan at 66 million and finds that Obama's plan would benefit 81 percent of all households when retirees and those without children are figured in.
* Obama asked why McCain would "define middle-class as someone making under five million dollars a year"? Actually, McCain meant that comment as a joke, getting a laugh and following up by saying, "But seriously ..."
* Obama noted that McCain's health care plan would "tax people's benefits" but didn't say that it also would provide up to a $5,000 tax credit for families.
* He said McCain, far from being a maverick who's "broken with his party," has voted to support Bush policies 90 percent of the time. True enough, but by the same measure Obama has voted with fellow Democrats in the Senate 97 percent of the time.
* Obama said "average family income" went down $2,000 under Bush, which isn't correct. An aide said he was really talking only about "working" families and not retired couples. And – math teachers, please note – he meant median (or midpoint) and not really the mean or average. Median family income actually has inched up slightly under Bush.

Analysis
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama accepted his party's nomination Aug. 28, speaking before more than 84,000 people in Denver's Mile High football stadium. Some of his comments were worthy of a ref's yellow flag.

Not Quite Every Dime
Obama reassured voters that he can pay for all his spending proposals:

Obama: Now, many of these plans will cost money, which is why I've laid out how I'll pay for every dime – by closing corporate loopholes and tax havens that don't help America grow.

This is misleading. Even by his own campaign's estimates, closing corporate loopholes and tax havens won't pay for all of Obama's new plans. In July, the campaign told the Los Angeles Times that they estimate the yearly cost of their proposed tax cuts at $130 billion. They put revenue from closing tax loopholes at just $80 billion. Obama also proposes to raise taxes to pre-Bush levels for families earning more than $250,000 a year and singles making more than $200,000, yielding additional revenue. But he didn't mention that in his speech.

But Obama's claim is misleading on another level. According to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, "without substantial cuts in government spending" Obama's plan – and McCain's, too – "would substantially increase the national debt over the next ten years." Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor told FactCheck.org that the Tax Policy Center's analysis "fails to take in account Senator Obama's spending cuts, including ending the Iraq war." That's true, but Obama's proposed cuts are dwarfed by the Tax Policy Center's projected deficits. Obama's new spending programs might be completely offset by new revenue and spending cuts. But overall spending will still exceed overall revenue, and the nation would face at least 10 more years of annual deficits.

Afghan Muddle
Obama twisted McCain's words about Afghanistan, incorrectly implying that McCain saw no need for more troops there.

Obama: When John McCain said we could just "muddle through" in Afghanistan, I argued for more resources and more troops to finish the fight against the terrorists who actually attacked us on 9/11.

Actually, McCain said in 2003 that the U.S. "may" muddle through, not that we could or would. He also said he was very concerned about a rise in al Qaeda activity there. He said then that he was "guardedly optimistic" that the government could handle it.

McCain, 2003: I think Afghanistan is dicey. I think that there are certain areas of the country, particularly along the Pakistani border, that are clearly not under the control of either Pakistan or the Afghan government. ... There has been a rise in al Qaeda activity along the border. There has been some increase in U.S. casualties. I am concerned about it, but I'm not as concerned as I am about Iraq today, obviously, or I'd be talking about Afghanistan. But I believe that if Karzai can make the progress that he is making, that – in the long term, we may muddle through in Afghanistan.

So I'm guardedly optimistic, but I am also realistic that the central government in Kabul has very little effect on the policies and practices of the warlords who control the surrounding areas.

FACTCHECK.ORG
School Funding Misleads

http://www.newsweek.com/id/158409

Summary
A new Obama-Biden ad includes misleading claims about McCain and education spending:

It says McCain "voted to cut education funding" and lists five votes. But one was a vote for increased education funding, although for fewer dollars than what Democrats may have wanted. And three others were votes against additional funding, not votes for funding cuts.

The ad says that "McCain's economic plan gives $200 billion more to special interests while taking money away from public schools." Not exactly. McCain has proposed a one-year freeze on discretionary spending in general. A freeze would mean that funds would not keep pace with inflation and population growth, but no dollars would be "taken away." The $200 billion for "special interests" refers to the cost of McCain's proposal to reduce the tax rate for all business corporations, not just a few "special" ones.

The ad says McCain proposed abolishing the Department of Education. He did once say in an interview that he "would certainly favor" abolishing both the departments of Education and Energy, but he hasn't pushed for either.

Analysis
On Sept. 9, Obama gave a speech on education in Ohio, and his campaign released a new attack ad.

Distorting the Vote Record
The Obama ad says that McCain "voted to cut education funding" and lists five Senate votes. But only one of the five meets that description, and even then, the vote requires further explanation.

In 1995, McCain voted for a Republican budget resolution for fiscal year 1996 that would have reduced education spending from the previous year. But education was not the only budget item targeted. The resolution was actually one in a series of appropriations bills for departments ranging from Health and Human Services to the Department of Energy, and in each measure, the Newt Gingrich-led Republicans tried to reduce funding from the previous year's level. President Bill Clinton refused to sign any of the measures, and the government was shutdown for a time.

Besides that vote to actually cut funding, the ad lists three votes against increased funding for the Department of Education. In the past, we've criticized Republicans for falsely attacking Obama on voting for tax increases when he actually voted against tax cuts. Obama's ad applies the same faulty logic. Voting against an increase is notably different from voting for a funding cut.

Those three votes were:
A vote McCain cast against an amendment to the 2006 budget resolution to increase discretionary education funding by $500 million. It passed anyway, and McCain voted for the final bill.

A vote against an amendment to the 2001 budget resolution that would have repealed tax cuts worth $250 billion in order to increase education funding. It passed anyway, and, again McCain voted for the final bill.

A vote against an amendment in 2001 to add $250 million to Title I funding for struggling schools. The measure failed.

Finally, the Obama campaign points to McCain's vote in 2000 for the next year's education appropriations bill, saying in their ad backup that it "underfunded" the department. But that legislation, which was signed into law by President Clinton, was a spending increase from the previous year.

Obama-Biden Ad: "New Kind"
Narrator: When they grow up, will the economy be strong enough? Barack Obama understands what it takes: make America number one in education again. John McCain doesn't understand. John McCain voted to cut education funding. Against accountability standards. He even proposed abolishing the Department of Education. And John McCain's economic plan gives $200 billion more to special interests while taking money away from public schools. We can't afford more of the same.

Obama: I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.

Like Candy from a Baby?
The ad also says, "John McCain's economic plan gives $200 billion more to special interests while taking money away from public schools." But that's misleading.

To start, McCain's plan doesn't include any specific cuts to education programs and funding. Rather, he has proposed an across-the-board "freeze [of] non-defense, non-veterans discretionary spending for a year." So education grants, as well as all sorts of other government programs like farm subsidies and NASA projects, would not receive their annual funding increase for one year. Some would argue that a freeze is actually a cut when you factor in the effect of inflation. And others would go further and say it's a cut if the money had been projected by an earlier budget.

Indeed, the Obama campaign provided us with an analysis done by the Tennessee affiliate of the National Education Association that demonstrated the difference in funding between a freeze and the anticipated increase from the previous year's budget. To the NEA Tennessee branch, a freeze is a cut. But even if one agrees with that, McCain's proposal to freeze the entire discretionary budget is different from a proposal to specifically "take money away from public schools," as the ad says. No dollars are being "taken away."

The "$200 billion to special interests" line is actually a new version of an old attack. It refers to the total cost, over five years, of McCain's proposal to lower the corporate tax rate. The Tax Policy Center's analysis of McCain's plan estimates a $200 billion loss of revenue over the next five years. We've criticized the Obama campaign previously for unfairly implying that McCain's plan would give tax breaks targeted to "oil companies." In this case, the campaign calls a change in taxes on all businesses a giveaway to "special interests." But the corporate tax rate is paid by any incorporated entity, a group that includes restaurant owners, garage mechanics and other small businesses that we suspect few would call a "special interest."

Hit the Brakes

An Obama ad running in Michigan claims McCain didn't support loan guarantees for the auto industry. In fact, he does support them.

Summary
A new Obama ad targeted to Michigan voters says McCain "refused to support loan guarantees for the auto industry."

That was true, but it's not now – and it wasn't when this ad was made. Yet the ad doesn't mention McCain's changed position on government support for the carmakers.

Analysis
The Obama campaign ad, "Revitalize," is running in Michigan, where the auto industry is on the ropes.

Big Three Blues
The spot portrays Sen. John McCain as being callous toward the auto industry and American workers in general. In particular, it claims that he "refused to support loan guarantees for the auto industry."

Obama for America TV Ad: "Revitalize"
Obama: I'm Barack Obama and I approved this message.

Narrator: In tough times, who'll help Michigan's auto industry? Barack Obama favors loan guarantees to help Detroit retool and revitalize. But John McCain refused to support loan guarantees for the auto industry. Now he's just paying lip service, not talking straight. And McCain voted repeatedly for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, selling out American workers. We just can't afford more of the same.

It's true that at one point McCain declined to support the initiative, which had been authorized but not funded by Congress last year in order to help speed the Big Three automakers' switch to producing more fuel-efficient vehicles. What the ad doesn't say, though, is that the quote shown on the screen – "McCain Opposed Government Help for Automakers" – is actually from a Detroit News article last month describing how McCain had reconsidered his position and is now in favor of low-cost loans to the industry. The full quote:

Detroit News, Aug. 23: The loan program got a boost Friday when likely Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who had opposed government help for automakers, said he would support low-cost loans, although he did not specify a funding amount.

The Detroit News article goes on to say that Obama "criticized McCain for changing his position on the same day a new poll showed McCain losing ground with Michigan voters." This may be what the ad means when it says McCain is "just paying lip service."

PAULSEN REMINDS ATTENDEES AT JCRC DEBATE THAT MADIA THINKS “IRAN IS NOT A THREAT”
Another reason not to vote for Ashwin Madia
“The first question at the Jewish Community Relations Council debate was about Iran. Republican Erik Paulsen wasted no time in reminding the audience at Minnetonka’s Bet Shalom synagogue what his Democratic opponent Ashwin Madia has said about that country.

‘Mr. Madia at one time said Iran is not a threat. I’ll say it again. At one time, Ashwin Madia said Iran is not a threat,’ Paulsen said.

And Paulsen disagrees.

‘It’s a threat not only to Israel. It’s a threat to the United States, and it’s probably the most important threat that faces the entire globe as we look at the possibility of them getting nuclear weapons in the near future.’

But Madia, a military veteran who served in Iraq, stands by his statement.” Source: MPR, September 23, 2008

Franken Cover Up Drug addict...

Back to page top

Franken Cover Up
Drug addict and proud of it. More from the left wing fruits and nuts.

Monday, September 15, 2008
ONCE AGAIN, LET’S NOT FORGET ABOUT FRANKEN’S USE OF COCAINE AND ACID

Al Franken has made a great deal of jokes over the years about his drug use on Saturday Night Live. Up until he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate, Franken was always cracking a joke here, or making a comedy bit there, about what he has consistently said was his excessive drug use.

However, Franken has always talked about his drug use in the context of when he was “young.”

So, I did a bit of research on what "young" actually means.

Most people have generally cut people Franken’s age and generation some slack for doing drugs while in college. The vast majority of people in his generation will say that the drug use they engaged in at the time was excessive and they will also admit that they were young and it was a mistake.

But, when is it no longer acceptable to say you were “young” when you were doing cocaine, LSD and other hard drugs that are illegal? These drugs would have been purchased illegally – distributed illegally – and consumed illegally.

Some articles have Franken talking about his use of drugs on Saturday Night Live as late as 1980 through 1986. If you assume that Franken wasn’t lying about his drug use, this would mean he would have been somewhere between 30 and 35 years old when he was still consuming cocaine, LSD and pot.

So, it makes me wonder – can Franken provide evidence of when he actually stopped using illegal drugs?

* Can he provide evidence that he himself was not purchasing drugs and consuming them at the age of 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35?

* Who bought Franken’s drugs? Where did Franken use drugs? Did he use them in his apartment in New York that he still owns?

* Is the person Franken bought his drugs from still selling drugs in New York and to cast members of SNL?

* Was Franken buying drugs off the streets from dealers during the 1980s while inner city kids were dying from drugs on the streets?

* Will Minnesotans think it was just a “youthful mistake” when Franken’s drug use and purchasing of illegal drugs likely happened when he was in his 30's?

It seems interesting that a grown man with children, who may have well been buying and doing drugs in his 30's, now wants to serve in the U.S. Senate when he could have served jail-time for his past drug offenses.

Background

"Al Franken: Yes, there were some people on the show doing coke. I don’t like to get into this. John died of it. He had a problem, he got addicted. We didn’t know about that, we didn’t know at the time. When I say ‘we’, I mean Americans didn’t know what cocaine did, and about addiction, and that kind of thing." Al on his cocaine use

"Al Franken: There was not as much cocaine as you would think on the premises. Yeah, a number of people got in trouble. But cocaine was used mainly just to stay up. There was a very undisciplined way of writing the show, which was staying up all night on Tuesday. We didn’t have the kind of hours that normal people have. And so there was a lot of waiting ‘til Tuesday night, and then going all night, and at two or three or four in the morning, doing some coke to stay up, as opposed to doing a whole bunch, and doing nitrous oxide, and laughing at stuff. People used to ask me about this and I’d always say, 'No, there was no coke. It’s impossible to do the kind of show we were doing and do drugs.' And so that was just a funny lie that I liked to tell. Kind of the opposite was true, unfortunately—for some people, it was impossible to do the show without drugs. Comedians and comedy writers and people in show business in general aren’t the most disciplined people, so the idea of putting the writing off until you had to, and then staying up all night, was an attractive one. And then having this drug that kept you awake in an enjoyable way was kind of tempting too. But I only did cocaine to stay awake to make sure nobody else did too much cocaine. That was the only reason I ever did it. Heh-heh." Franken’s first cocaine purchase

"Dick Ebersol: My office was on the fourth floor. The writers basically never got there before one o’clock in the afternoon—ever. We had so little space. Herb Sargent was back in a corner. In the hallway to Herb’s office were like Franken and Davis and Alan Zweibel, the three apprentice writers. Al and Tom had bought their first-ever cocaine, and they had it all out on the desk. First time they were able to buy any. As apprentice writers, their pay was, I think $325 a week. So they have cocaine on the desk, they’re literally staring at it. I’m off in the distance. I’m in a tough place because I’m supposedly the executive, but I decided it wasn’t my job to play the policeman. Suddenly this figure comes roaring through the room. Unbeknownst to us at the time, he had a straw in his hand. He gets to the table, and he has half of that stuff up his nose by the time they knew who it was: Belushi. They didn’t know whether to be thrilled that Belushi had just done this to their coke or be absolutely decimated, because that represented about half the money they had in the world at that time." Pot party at Franken’s apartment

"Neil Levy: Franken and Davis I think shared an apartment, and they threw a party so we could get together to watch Howard Cosell’s Saturday Night Live. It came on before us, which is why we weren’t allowed to call our show Saturday Night Live at first. We wanted to see this other Saturday Night. All the writers showed up, Michael O’Donoghue, Dan Aykroyd. They were passing around these joints. I had never smoked before, or not really gotten stoned, and I didn’t want to seem like 'the kid,' so I started smoking. This pot was from Africa or something. You didn’t even have to smoke it; you just looked at the joint and you were unconscious." Splitzville for Franken and Davis

"Tom Davis, Writer: My breakup with Al was hardly just a matter of shaking hands and going separate ways. It was a really ugly divorce. It was just hideous. It was precipitated by someone her knew having to enter a twelve-step program. And they really had to. They had a serious problem. And then Al wanted me to go into a twelve-step program. And I didn’t want to go. And then I got married in ’89 and we were already drifting apart significantly. Because Al was into Al-Anon at that time. And the show kind of became a twelve-step comedy. I just wasn’t going to join the program. That was one of the issues. He thought I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. He called me a garden-variety alcoholic and drug addict. He did his share of my drugs. He did plenty of experiments. I don’t want to embarrass him now, because I don’t think he needs that for his current career or whatever, but it was common knowledge". Franken Has Admitted To Using Cocaine, LSD, And Marijuana

“Al Franken, the former actor on 'Saturday Night Live' and DFL candidate for Coleman's Senate seat, used cocaine, LSD and marijuana while working on the late-night show, according to news reports. Franken's first stint on the show was in the late 1970s. In a Los Angeles Times article from 1994, Franken admitted to doing his ‘share of recreational drugs’ but said he never was addicted. ‘There'd be cocaine around the show and if it was [mid-week] at 3 in the morning and I wanted to finish something I was writing I'd do some,’ Franken said in the interview. A Washington Post story from February 1986 described a scene from a book about ‘Saturday Night Live’ that had Franken and co-writer Tom Davis using LSD while writing a sketch about former President Richard Nixon. In a 2006 Playboy interview, Franken admitted to doing cocaine when he was ‘young and irresponsible.’ Andy Barr, communications director for Franken's Senate campaign, declined to comment Wednesday on Franken's alleged use, saying Franken takes the issue of drug use seriously.” Source: Star Tribune, June 28, 2007

Former SNL Star Says Franken Always Smoking Pot

“Mr. Miller: One effect it had upon them was they all stopped doing drugs, at least for a few minutes, and some of them even stopped smoking pot, I think, which, you know, pot around the "Saturday Night Live" offices on the 17th floor was like Coca-Cola around a normal office. I remember Lorne showing me through once, and we opened the door to Tom Davis and Al Franken's office, and this cloud of smoke rolled out like, you know, fog over San Francisco Bay. It was marijuana smoke. And so after John's death, I think, though, they suddenly became aware that there could be dire consequences to all this recreational drug use.” Source: “Fresh Air,” WHYY, October 8, 2002

THE GREAT AL FRANKEN TAX COVER-UP!

I start FrankenCoverUp.Com with a review of Al Franken’s financial scandal involving his failure to pay taxes in 18 states for 5 years.

It’s been clear from the beginning that when Franken was busted because his California based corporation had gone into “forfeit”, Franken was hoping that nobody was going to focus on his finances.

Up to that point, Team Franken must have been convinced that Franken was going to be hit from all sides on his violent temper, his indefensible comedy routines and his extreme liberal political positions.

Few in the media could have predicted that Franken was going to be dealt massive political blows for financial irregularities that could still come back to haunt him.

The Beginning:

The California Connection

Why did Franken’s California Firm go into Forfeit?

Franken failed to report income, file corporate paperwork and ultimately pay taxes in California. Under California business law, any corporation that exists to make money under the state’s “Foreign Corporations” rules. These rules clearly state that any company operating in the state under those rules must file regular paperwork – and as any company operating legally would do – report any qualified income (or lack of income) in its tax returns and then pay taxes on that income. Al Franken failed to follow California’s tax laws.

What was Franken’s reaction when the story became public?

Team Franken immediately went into cover-up mode. First, Team Franken attempted to deny that Franken did business in the state. Then, they attempted to claim that he hadn’t done business in the state for so long that the company simply faded away.

When all that failed, Team Franken claimed that Franken had dissolved the corporation.

Was Franken lying?

I believe he was. Within a short period of time Team Franken began to back-track and admitted that he had indeed been doing business in the state – and that he had been doing so legally. Furthermore, they insisted that Franken – who is listed as Chief Financial Officer of the California foreign corporation – had followed all the rules and procedures in the state and had correctly terminated the corporation earlier.

Did Franken lie again?

Now you’re getting the picture! Yes, I believe Franken and his campaign did lie. There is no record or any evidence that Franken as CFO and officer – or anyone else who was an officer of his California corporation – attempted to terminate or dissolve the corporation.

On the contrary, there is significant evidence that shows Franken affirmatively kept his company operating by submitting forms that were required by law in California to be keep the company open for business.

But, did Franken lie again?

You are clearly a quick learner! Not long after Franken was busted for simply not being truthful about whether he was or wasn’t doing business, his CPA, Allen Chanzis (you’ll hear a lot about Allen Chanzis in the weeks ahead!), produced a letter which he claimed showed that a representative of Chanzis' office had dissolved his California Corporation as well as notified the State of California to remove Franken’s company from the tax rolls

Almost as soon as Chanzis and Team Franken campaign produced the letter, they refused to answer any further questions about the letter. The letter was on a blank piece of paper, which is odd since it was supposed to have been an official communication from Franken and/or his CPA to the State of California.

The letter was never signed by a woman named Monifa Benison.

There is absolutely no evidence this letter made it any further than into the hands of the Star Tribune reported who exposed the letter to the public.

Who is Monifa Benison?

This is one of those FrankenCoverUp.Com issues that the public still has not received an answer to. Not long after Franken and his CPA simply refused to talk anymore about the clearly suspicious letter – the news about Monifa Benison went silent.

There was no ability for the media to talk to her – she never explained the reason behind the letter and why she allowed herself to be used as a pawn in Franken’s efforts to conceal the truth and fact about his serial tax violations throughout the country.

The Second Act: Franken Admits He Failed to Pay Taxes

While Al Franken and his campaign made every effort to stonewall the public and the press on his California tax scandal, it was clear to many that something else was taking place.

Franken and his campaign became very, very quiet and refused to answer anymore questions about Monifa Benison, why he originally denied doing business in California and then finally confessed that he had been doing business and why Al Chanzis was making letters public about dissolving a corporation and paying taxes in California when it was obvious this was just a cover story.

The answer came very soon when Franken and his team conducted a carefully orchestrated and controlled media damage control plan and admitted that Franken failed to report income and pay taxes in 17 states in 5 years.

Within weeks of that claim, Franken had to admit it was now 18 states – but won’t disclose what other states he may have violated not just tax laws – but business filing laws – since 1991.

Did Franken pay his Minnesota taxes?

Minnesota was one of the 18 states Franken did not report his income or pay his taxes in until he was forced to admit he hadn’t obeyed tax laws in Minnesota or 17 other states. How long did he not pay his taxes?

Franken ONLY claims that he has now paid all of his taxes since 2003 – but that he doesn’t have any information that would allow him to determine if he paid all of his taxes from 1991 up until 2003. How convenient!

Allen Chanzis, Franken’s CPA for 18 years, should certainly have access to that information.

Did he file the necessary paperwork to do business in those states?

We don’t know. A cursory review of the records provides no evidence that Franken ever filed the necessary paperwork in the states where he was operating and earning income – and therefore, required to file tax returns, in some cases file incorporating documents and obviously pay his taxes.

Why did he blame Allen Chanzis?

Franken had to blame someone because he didn’t want to be responsible for the problem. So, either he and Chanzis agreed that Chanzis would take the fall – or Franken simply threw him under the bus.

In any case, Franken’s been unwilling to answer anymore questions about the matter, nor has his CPA.

Didn’t he just underpay his taxes but overpay them somewhere else?

No. There isn’t a Minnesotan alive who would be able to get away with telling the IRS or any state’s Revenue Commissioner that for 5 years they didn’t pay taxes in the state they were supposed to – that they did pay taxes – just to a different state.

In other words, you can’t fill up your car with gas at Texaco and drive across the street and pay SuperAmerica for your gas.

How long has Allen Chanzis been Franken’s CPA?

For 18 years. Long enough that he should know every single detail of where Franken worked, how much he made, what states he reported income and whether he paid his taxes.

Chanzis must not be very good at his job?

Chanzis’ firm is recognized as one of the nation’s leading entertainment accounting firms. They are experts at handling tax matters for entertainers who do business in multiple states – requiring multiple tax filings and payment of taxes.

I don't believe that Allen Chanzis did not understand the tax laws he is supposed to know for the millionaire clients he represents.

Why did Al Franken blame his accountant?

Again, Team Franken didn’t want to take the heat and Franken doesn’t want to answer the question of why he never asked his accountant why he wasn’t paying taxes. Franken likely was aware of the matter and either didn’t want to know, or the decision not to report income and pay taxes may have been a part of a financial planning scheme that Franken and his CPA cooked up 18 years ago.

Did the CPA explain the problem?

Nope. Someone immediately directed Franken's CPA not to talk. The media attempted to reach him, but were told by the CPA that he had been directed to not talk any further.

Al Franken said he did not tell his accountant not to talk, what’s the problem?

If the CPA can talk, then Franken can and should make him talk. So far he has refused to do so, continuing the cover-up.

I digress:

Dems To Relent On Offshore Drilling
Democrats Will Allow 25-Year Ban On Drilling Off Coast To Expire

Comments Comments19

WASHINGTON, Sept. 23, 2008
AP) Democrats have decided to allow a quarter-century ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week, conceding defeat in a months-long battle with the White House and Republicans set off by $4 a gallon gasoline prices this summer.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis., told reporters Tuesday that a provision continuing the moratorium will be dropped this year from a stopgap spending bill to keep the government running after Congress recesses for the election.

Republicans have made lifting the ban a key campaign issue after gasoline prices spiked this summer and public opinion turned in favor of more drilling. President Bush lifted an executive ban on offshore drilling in July.

"If true, this capitulation by Democrats following months of Republican pressure is a big victory for Americans struggling with record gasoline prices," said House GOP leader John Boehner of Ohio.

Democrats had clung to the hope of only a partial repeal of the drilling moratorium, but the White House had promised a veto, Obey said.

The House is expected to act on the spending bill Wednesday. The Senate is likely to go along with the House.

"The White House has made it clear they will not accept anything with a drilling moratorium, and Democrats know we cannot afford to shut down the government over this," said Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. "We look forward to working with the next president to hammer out a final resolution of this issue."

While the House would lift the long-standing drilling moratoriums for both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, a drilling ban in waters within 125 miles of Florida's western coast would remain in force under a law passed by Congress in 2006 that opened some new areas of the east-central Gulf to drilling.

Just last week, the House passed legislation to open waters off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to oil and gas drilling but only 50 or more miles out to sea and only if a state agrees to energy development off its shore. It quickly became clear that measure would not get the 60 votes needed in the Senate.

Republicans called that effort a sham that would have left almost 90 percent of offshore reserves effectively off-limits.

The Interior Department estimates there are 18 billion barrels of recoverable oil beneath the Outer Continental Shelf, about half of it off California.

While the ban on energy development will be lifted if the Senate goes along with the House action, it doesn't mean any federal sale of oil and gas leases in the offshore waters - much less actual drilling - would be imminent.

The Interior Department's current five-year leasing plan includes potential leases off the Virginia coast but probably would not be pursued unless the state agrees to energy development. And the state is unlikely to do so without Congress agreeing to share federal royalties with the state.

The congressional battle over offshore drilling is far from over. Democrats are expected to press for broader energy legislation, probably next year, that would put limits on any drilling off most of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Republicans, meanwhile, are likely to fight any resumption of the drilling bans that have been in place since 1981.

John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, has promised to make offshore oil drilling a priority if elected president. He has called for developing the oil and gas resources along all of Outer Continental Shelf and for the federal government to share royalties with states who go along with drilling.

Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama has said he would support limited drilling in certain areas - possibly the South Atlantic region - if it is part of a broader energy plan to shift the U.S. away from oil to alternative fuels and more energy efficiency.

The debate over offshore drilling is not expected to subside in the first months of the next presidency - no matter who sits in the White House.

Lifting the drilling ban gives considerable momentum to the underlying bill, which includes the Pentagon budget, $24 billion in aid for flood and hurricane victims and $25 billion in loans for Detroit automakers in addition to keeping the government open past the Oct. 1 start of the 2009 budget year.

But Democrats decided not to use the must-pass measure as a battering ram to carry an extension of unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless past White House veto promises, prompting grumbling among some lawmakers. Efforts to boost food stamps and give states billions of dollars to help with Medicaid bills also fell through.

But the measure would double, to $5.2 billion, funding for heating subsidies for the poor, Obey said.

The measure also would provide more than $600 billion to fund the 2009 budgets for the Pentagon, Homeland Security Department and the Veterans Affairs Department. Nine other spending bills for the 2009 budget year starting Oct. 1 remain unfinished.

Bush had threatened to veto bills that don't cut the number and cost of pet projects known as "earmarks" sought by lawmakers in half from current levels or cause agency operating budgets, taken together, to exceed his request. Obey said, however, the White House would reluctantly sign the measure.

Did Son Of Dem Rep. Hack Palin E-Mail?
FBI Searches Apartment For Evidence Linking Tenn. Lawmaker's Son To E-Mail Breach
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/22/politics/main4468434.shtml?sou...

(AP) The FBI searched the residence of the son of a Democratic state lawmaker in Tennessee over the weekend looking for evidence linking the young man to the hacking of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's personal e-mail account, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press on Monday.

David Kernell, 20, has not returned repeated phone calls or e-mails from the AP since last week. He is the son of state Rep. Mike Kernell, a Memphis Democrat and chairman of Tennessee's House Government Operations Committee. The father declined last week to discuss the possibility his son might be involved in the case.

"I had nothing to do with it, I had no knowledge or anything," Mike Kernell told the AP.

"I was not a party to anything of this nature at all," he added. "I wasn't in on this — and I wouldn't know how to do anything like that."

The apartment the FBI searched is in a complex about five blocks from the University of Tennessee campus in a neighborhood popular with students. No one around the complex Monday knew David Kernell or saw the FBI agents over the weekend.

A hacker last week broke into one of the Yahoo Inc. e-mail accounts that Palin uses, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate. The McCain campaign confirmed the break-in and called it a "shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law."

Palin used "gov.sarah" in one of her Yahoo e-mail addresses she sometimes uses to conduct state business. The hacker targeted her separate "gov.palin" account.

After the break-in, a person claiming responsibility published a detailed chronology of the hacking on the Web site where the break-in was first revealed. That person identified his e-mail address as one that has been linked publicly to David Kernell.

Mike Kernell, 56, is known for his liberal stance on state issues in the Legislature. He was among a handful of Democrats to vote against the Tennessee governor's health plan because he said it wasn't expansive enough. He also opposed a recent increase in the cigarette tax because he felt the proceeds should have been directed toward health care instead of education.

Kernell was also among five House members who voted against a sweeping overhaul of state ethics laws in 2006. He said the new law's limits on cash contributions hurts candidates seeking smaller donations.

Kernell has a straight-laced reputation among his colleagues.

"Mike Kernell is your quintessential Boy Scout," said state Rep. John Deberry, another Democrat. "Mike follows the rules. He will almost get on your nerve as far as making sure things are done by the book."

"If Mike had known anything about this, he would have had a fit on his son," Deberry said. "When I saw his reaction when he first heard about it, the absolute fear and shock that was on his face, I realized then he had absolutely nothing to do with it."

Experts said the hacker apparently left an easy trail for investigators.

"He might as well have taken a picture of his house and uploaded it," said Ken Pfeil, an Internet security expert. "He should have just set up a big beacon that said, 'Here's my house,' or confessed. If they can't catch this guy based on all the information posted on the Web then all bets are off."

The hacker described guessing correctly that Alaska's governor had met her husband in high school, and knew Palin's date of birth and home Zip code. Using those details, the hacker tricked Yahoo's service into assigning a new password, "popcorn," for Palin's e-mail account. What started as a prank was cut short because of panic over the possibility the FBI might investigate, the hacker wrote.

The FBI and Secret Service are now investigating.

The law enforcement officials confirming the search spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

In Washington, Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney confirmed Monday only that the FBI conducted "investigative activity" late Saturday and early Sunday in Knoxville related to the case.

David Kernell is an economics major at the University of Tennessee there.

You folks will stoop to anything.

"Biden's Coal Slaw"

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122230521033973805.html?mod=googlenews_w...

The classic definition of a gaffe is when a politician accidentally tells the truth, and specialists like Joe Biden can work wonders with the form. On Tuesday Barack Obama's running mate blew an easy question about coal, revealing volumes about liberal energy politics.

Working the rope line in Maumee, Ohio, the Senator was asked by an environmentalist why he and Mr. Obama support "clean coal." "We're not supporting clean coal," Mr. Biden responded. Then, riffing on China's breakneck construction of new coal plants, he continued, "No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them, over there." ..... As for "clean coal," the Obama campaign actually supports it.

Biden Dropping Out? Rumor...

Biden Dropping Out? Rumor Thrives on Internet

Would the dems stoop to this level just to win an election? You bet your bottom dollar.

It’s almost certainly just a case of the telephone game gone high-tech, but there’s an Internet rumor surging through inboxes and discussion boards that Joe Biden will drop out as Barack Obama’s running mate after his Oct. 2 debate with Sarah Palin — and that he’ll be replaced by Hillary Clinton on the Democratic presidential ticket.

The story line goes as follows: John McCain’s selection of Palin has generated so much interest in the Republican ticket that Obama needs to make a radical move to regain momentum. So in the days after the vice presidential candidates debate in Missouri, Biden will bow out, citing “health problems” (Biden underwent surgery in 1988 to repair two brain aneurysms). Enter Clinton.

Furthermore, the story goes, any damage the gaffe-prone Biden does during the debate will be erased by his abrupt exit.

It sounds like a job for Fight the Smears, the Web site the Obama campaign set up to quash damaging Internet rumors. But Fight the Smears hasn’t touched this one, perhaps out of fear that it would only further a wild rumor. The Obama campaign has not commented on it, other than to say that Biden’s medical records will be released soon.

Snopes.com, a site devoted to picking apart online rumors and urban legends, has labeled the status of the claim “undetermined.” Several online discussion boards have been loaded up with denials.

Biden has caused a few hiccups for the Obama campaign. On Monday, he had to issue a clarification after he called one of his own campaign ads “terrible” in an interview with CBS News. He also faced a rebuke from Obama after he spoke out against the government bailout of American International Group last week before Obama was ready to take a position.

On Tuesday, he said that President Franklin Roosevelt had gone on television in 1929 to discuss the Wall Street crash (Herbert Hoover was president in 1929 and the TV hadn’t been invented yet).

At one point, he even said Hillary Clinton might have been a better pick for Obama’s No. 2.

The Republican National Committee has gleefully set up a Biden “gaffe clock” to monitor his rhetorical flubs on the campaign trail.

Nonetheless, Democratic supporters dismiss outright any speculation that he might be dropped from the ticket.

“It’s crazy. … It’s just not gonna happen,” Democratic strategist Bob Beckel said.

Dropping Biden from the ticket would be a throwback to George McGovern’s shocker in 1972, when he replaced running mate Thomas Eagleton after it was learned that Eagleton had undergone electro-shock therapy for depression.

McGovern lost to President Nixon in a landslide, suggesting that seventh-inning lineup changes are not the best strategy for presidential candidates who want to shake things up.

Speaking hypothetically, Beckel said that, if it were to happen, the Democratic National Committee could feasibly call a mini-convention of sorts to confirm a new running mate. He also said “it would be so disruptive” that it would make no sense for Obama to pursue such a change.

Deadlines have passed in some states to send absentee ballots to military personnel and civilian voters overseas — meaning they would have received a ballot already with Biden (and Palin) on their parties’ tickets.

“I doubt it,” said Christopher Hull, presidential scholar and adjunct government professor at Georgetown University, when told of the Biden rumor. “Joe Biden is not that big a liability. Joe Biden was arguably the most experienced candidate in the [Democratic primary] race.”

“Joe Biden, of course, has shot off his mouth and gotten himself in trouble,” he added. “It’s Joe Biden we’re talking about.”

Though Obama lost ground in the polls after McCain tapped Palin to be his running mate, he has recently regained some of that footing. The FOX News Opinion Dynamics Poll on Wednesday gave Obama a 6-point lead, and a Washington Post-ABC News poll put his lead at 9 points. The Gallup daily tracking poll gave the Democrat a 3-point lead.

Hull said he would understand the desire to put Clinton on the ticket if Obama were persistently trailing in the polls.

A recent Associated Press-Yahoo News poll showed former Clinton backers are still reluctant to support Obama. The survey showed just 58 percent of them back him - unchanged since a similar poll in June.

But Hull said he doesn’t sense panic in the Obama ranks.

“I don’t think the Obama campaign was panicking even when the rest of the Democrats were panicking,” he said.

Obama, meanwhile, is standing by his man.

“Joe Biden is also an outstanding public servant and I am very proud of the choice that I made,” he told NBC’s “Today Show” in an interview that aired Tuesday. He said he’s a “great admirer of Senator Clinton’s” and he hopes she remains a “close adviser.”

And Biden is dutifully living up to his role as attack dog.

“Time and again, on the most critical national security issues of our time, John McCain’s judgment has simply been wrong,” the Delaware senator said Wednesday in Cincinnati.

BIden has campaigned all over the country for Obama, hitting long-shot states like Montana as well as key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and Michigan. He’s largely hitting working-class towns, especially in the Midwest.

Though Snopes.com ruled the validity of the dropout rumor was “undetermined,” the write-up did cast serious doubt on the idea that Obama would dump the Senate veteran who seemed to fill in Obama’s perceived foreign policy gap.

“It’s difficult to definitely prove a negative, but rumors of Biden’s replacement as a VP candidate seem to be nothing more than e-mail chatter at this point,” the site said. “Whatever boost Barack Obama’s campaign might conceivably gain by swapping Joe Biden for Hillary Clinton just a month before the general election might also be more than offset by criticism that such a last-minute switch demonstrated poor decision-making ability and was indicative of a weak and vacillating presidential candidate.”

Obama knew Biden was a loose cannon when he picked him. I'm sure he's now kicking himself for not choosing Hillary, and people are saying "I told you so." I could be wrong, but it's too late for Barack to flip flop on his pick, ... unless they can invent a new reason!

DEWEY BEACH, Delaware (CNN) -- Although Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden routinely mocks his Republican counterpart, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, for her onetime support of the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere," Biden and his running mate voted to keep the project alive twice.
Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden campaigns in Washington on Tuesday.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden campaigns in Washington on Tuesday.

Both Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama voted to kill a Senate amendment that would have diverted federal funding for the bridge to repair a Louisiana span badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Senate records show.

And both voted for the final transportation bill that included the $223 million earmark for the Alaska project.

An amendment offered by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma, would have stripped the money appropriated to connect the Alaskan coastal city of Ketchikan to its airport on sparsely populated Gravina Island and diverted the money to Louisiana.

But Biden andObama and 80 of their colleagues rejected the measure, an amendment to a massive 2005 transportation bill that funded thousands of projects across the country. Video Watch how Biden has blasted Palin »

"That is probably the most disturbing element of this and the campaigning on the Bridge to Nowhere," said Bill Allison of the Sunlight Foundation, a taxpayer watchdog group. "Because, yes, they had a chance to vote specifically against the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska to redirect the money to people, to bridges and infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Katrina going in to New Orleans, and they chose not to."
The final version passed the Senate 93-1. Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has made his opposition to congressional "pork-barrel" spending a cornerstone of his campaign, did not vote on either the Coburn amendment or the final bill.

Palin, whom McCain chose as his running mate in August, has regaled crowds at the Republican convention and on the campaign trail with her declaration of "Thanks, but no thanks" for the bridge. But her conversion came after she became Alaska's governor in 2006 and after the bridge became a national symbol of congressional waste.

The record shows that she supported the bridge as a gubernatorial candidate, and Democrats have seized on the flip-flop, perhaps no one with as much relish as Biden.

"I got also a bridge I got to sell you here, and guess what, it's in Alaska, and it goes nowhere," Biden mocked Palin on the campaign trail last week in Maumee, Ohio. And in Canton, Ohio, he tied it to McCain.

"If you look at it John McCain's answers for the economy, and we're in such desperate shape, is the ultimate bridge to nowhere. It's nowhere," Biden said. "It takes you nowhere."

But while the applause line appealed to the Democratic faithful, it could come back to bite the Delaware senator.

This year, Delaware has requested 116 congressional earmarks through Biden, its longtime senator, at a cost to taxpayers of $342 million. In an appearance on CNN's "American Morning" with anchor John Roberts, Biden said that he had been open about those requests and that they all can be justified.

"Everyone has seen them, and we have no Lawrence Welk Museums and have no bridges to nowhere in Delaware. It's all straight up," Biden said.

Among his requests: $1 million for renovation of an opera house in Wilmington, another million for the construction of a children's museum and thousands of dollars for a water park renovation in Lewes.

"I think opera patrons generally can afford to -- you can raise money for an opera house; you can refurbish things a lot of different ways," Allison said.

"To have federal taxpaying dollars -- which is coming from people all over the country; low-income, middle-income people, as well as the wealthy -- to go to pay for the renovation of something that is really a luxury for Wilmington ... There are far more vital projects that anyone could think of that needs money. You got health care. You got education. You got all other types of things. Instead, we are redirecting money to refurbish an opera house in Wilmington or to build a children's museum."

And Biden's request includes a bridge that even the head of the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce says is not crucial at this juncture.

The Indian River Inlet Bridge is a vital link between two popular beachfront towns: Dewey and Bethany. Without it, the estimated 30,000 summer visitors would have to travel an additional 35 minutes to get to the towns.

"We need a new bridge, and we are fortunate to be at a place where it is finally going to happen," said Carol Everhart, the chief of the Chamber of Commerce.

The existing bridge has some erosion problems, and if it ever collapsed, Everhart said, it would cause an economic disaster in the community. But it's safe for now.

"The bridge, as it is, is perfectly safe," she said.

Still, Biden asked for $13 million to help shore up the existing bridge and begin construction of a new one. And that's what troubles the Sunlight Foundation's Allison.

"This bridge is not in any danger of collapse, and essentially what Sen. Biden is doing is saying, 'My state bridge gets the priority dollar even though it is not a priority project,' " Allison said.

He said the Department of Transportation, rather than U.S. senators, should be deciding which bridges get priority funding in the country. That way, the bridges in the U.S. that need immediate repair would be first in line for the dollars needed to do the work.

As he embarked on his presidential bid in 2007, Obama said he would no longer ask for earmark projects. McCain, who has been a longtime critic of the process, does not seek any for his home state of Arizona.

CNN asked Biden's campaign whether it could ask the senator about his earmark requests and his votes on the Bridge to Nowhere.

Putt-Putt

I think you are telling another "WHOPPER." What memo are referring to? Or, are you trying to spread more lies like you did when you posted on a liberal blog that Norm Coleman's wife left him. How did that work out you?

Check out the following link and then read 'em and weep.

By the way. I agree with you 100% that the city should not be in the liquor business. They should also not be in the coffee business. One important diffference is that the liquor stores provides revenue, while the coffee shop is a huge expense; that is something a liberal wouldn't understand.

Laurie Coleman Dumps Norm
Submitted by TwoPuttTommy on June 17, 2008 - 4:47am.

Yep – she sure did. With little fanfare, and absolutely no publicity that I could find. I’m not sure exactly when Laurie dumped Norm; but I know it was quite recent and I found out about it quite by accident. You see, I was talking to a friend; discussing how republiCons in general - and Senator Smokescreen in particular - never admit to doing anything wrong. Ever. But, Laurie dumping Norm like she did, is proof somebody done something wrong…

So, I’m tellin’ my pal how Laurie Coleman shamelessly hypes her senatorial hubby to sell her hair dryer thingy, and he shoots back: “dude – what are you talking about”? “Hey (I say) - it’s right there, on www.bloandgo.com ; Laurie Coleman shamelessly shillin’ her senatorial hubby, ol’ Smokescreen himself – it’s right there, on her website!!!”

Well, it was. “was” – as in “used to”. Here’s what it used to say:

Anyone who has ever tried to style his or her hair by wielding a blow-dryer in one hand and a brush in the other knows that it can be an exasperating juggling act. The challenge of an at-home blowout is what inspired, former runway model and wife of U.S. Senator Norm Coleman, Laurie Coleman to invent the Blo & Go, a hair-dryer holster. For years, Coleman had been jury-rigging wire coat hangers into holders for her blow-dryer so she could use both hands to style her hair. "You go on a trip with senators and you have 45 minutes and you have to be ready to go," says Coleman, who doesn't have the luxury of traveling with a hairstylist. "Norm's not going to blow-dry my hair." Her makeshift holsters were awkward, but they worked. That led a friend, Anthony Turk, who is now her business partner, to encourage her to develop and manufacture the device. It took four years of working with a product designer, but you can now get a Blo & Go for $29.99. Coleman is a former model, mother of two and a onetime actress -- "Homeland Security," "Three Days of Rain." The Blo & Go device doesn't grip the nozzle of the blow-dryer; instead, it cradles the handle. It holds by suction to any flat surface such as a mirror. (emphasis added)

Except, now, it doesn’t say that, as my pal pointed out.

All that highlighted stuff, up there?

It no longer says that, here: www.BloAndGo.com

It used to, but now it doesn’t. Why not? Why is Laurie no longer shamelessly shilling her senatorial hubby? Did ol’ Smokescreen figure out that his wife shamelessly shilling him isn’t exactly “senatorial”? Was it Norm that figured out having Laurie shill Norm might not send the proper signal; might not show proper senatorial decorum? Or, might have a staffer - a staffer with a good sense of where the electoral winds are blowing - figured it out? Just a few months ago, a staffer was quoted in The Washington Post, thusly: Press secretary LeRoy Coleman (no relation) confirms that the senator is "indeed proud of his wife and proud of the product."

These days, not so much? So, I’m left wondering: just what caused Laurie to dump Norm?

Those are all good questions; questions I’ll try to get answers for. Be that as it may, the answer to the question, gentle readers of “so why didn’t Norm step ‘right’ up, and admit he’s done wrong?” is “that’s just something republiCons in general, and Norm in particular, just don’t do”.

Putt Putt

Please calm down. In your haste, you proved the point that you were spreading ugly rumors about the Coleman family.

Your smear attempt is a complete rip off of what Garrison Keillor tried six years ago. Come up with some original material. I do admit that I laugh at some of your witty propaganda ... I couldn't say that about Keillor.

Obama brainwashing
Even NYT Crossword Puzzles In Tank for Obama

Is it any wonder that the media is slanted?

September 26, 2008 - 05:51 ET

Even the crossword puzzles in The New York Times are biased in favor of Obama and Biden finds David Levinson Wilk in Politico. Wilk did a little research to see how many times McCain has been an answer in the NYT puzzle since 2005. He came up with zero entries. When he looked for Obama he found the name "regularly appeared" in the puzzle. Does this prove that the Times is "150 percent in the tank" for Obama as McCain adviser Steve Schmidt recently claimed?

I find it a bit amazing that neither McCain's name, nor Palin's name (unless it is referring to Monty Python alum Michael) appears in the Times puzzle. But, there you have it. Wilk gives us his findings but tries to make light of the whole thing

Putt-Putt, do try to keep up.

I wasn't referring the the hair dryer accessory, I was speaking of the nasty things Garrison Keillor has said about the Coleman family, such as "St. Paul is a small town and anybody who hangs around the St. Paul Grill knows about Norm's habits. Everyone knows that his family situation is, shall we say, very interesting, but nobody bothered to ask about it." http://www.usatoday.com/community/tags/topic.aspx?req=tag&tag=A+Prairie+...

Keillor has also thrown around innuendos that Norm Coleman had something to do with the death of Paul Wellstone. Have you thought about doing that too, as you try to emulate Keillor?

As far as the Blo & Go, "The Blo & Go will revolutionize the way you style your hair! Not everyone can afford the time and money of a professional salon blowout but with Blo & Go- it is like getting the next closest thing to a salon experience at home!"

Buy 1 BLO & GO Get 1 Half-Price! That's 2 BLO & GO's for only $44.98, plus $15.90 S&H.
