Being a native Kansan, I was delighted by the news that Topeka, Kansas unofficially renamed itself "Google, Kansas" in an attempt to curry favor with Google and be named a test city for an ultra-high speed broadband project.
Think of it as magic fairy dust for cities to get super-fast Internet. Topeka is known for jumping through hoops for even less ambitious causes, having temporarily renamed itself "ToPikachu" back in 1998 to recognize the "Pokemon" madness, according to the Topeka Capital Journal.
Also, the city jumped on KFC's offer to fill potholes, for some reason. The photo on the following link pretty much sums that up:

Duluth is in the hunt as well, as evidenced by the following delightful YouTube clip:
Just the other week, while stopping by Crumb deli, I noticed JJ's Coffee Company and Wine Bar, tucked away in a corner of Lone Oak Center. Dining options for this section of Eden Prairie are relatively scarce, so, I'd be curious to see what people think of this place.

We dug up some old yearbooks from Eden Prairie High School and found the following gem.
If you love to dance, you've got to love early Michael Jackson. I'm biased toward songs from "Off the Wall" and "Thriller" but if anyone wants to make and argument for songs from "Bad" or later albums, feel free to duke it out in the comments:
Here's my Top 5:
"Thriller"

A classic of film and zombie dance.
Eden Prairie News typically publishes felony-level criminal charges but, we also occasionally receive somewhat quirky tales of mayhem through the list of misdemeanors. What follows is a case of road rage on Flying Cloud Drive:
Got the following press release from Alliant Action. It's a group that, for more than a decade, has been holding demonstrations and vigils every Wednesday at the headquarters of ATK-- an aerospace and defense company. That company recently relocated to Eden Prairie, as did Alliant Action.
This is a pretty laid-back group. They're good about giving a heads-up to local police about their activities.
I recently went to a ribbon-cutting event at Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion School.
One of my photos didn't turn out so well.
Or did it?
It's....artsy?
As it turns out, visiting the Republican National Convention is a lot like going to the state fair: There’s a lot of standing around, eating greasy food, prime people watching, home-made crafts and politicians, lots of politicians.
Apparently, there are a small number of activities one can participate in during this fine weekend.
Let's start with the corn. There is going to be a ton of food at Round Lake Park all of Saturday during the EP Lion's Corn Feed. I suggest you start off with a round of corn, fresh off the fields from Sever Peterson's farm. It's good stuff and it will fuel your adventures for the rest of the weekend.
Which should include a lot of art fairs: three of them, to be precise.
