Celleration Inc., developer of the patented MIST Therapy System, a device that uses ultrasound to heal wounds, announced today the appointment of Sven A. Wehrwein, 57, to its board of directors. Wehrwein brings more than 30 years of corporate finance and operational leadership experience to the Celleration board and will serve as an outside director and chair of the audit committee, according to a news release.
Wehrwein has served as a financial consultant to emerging companies since 1999. Previously, he was chief financial officer at business networking devices provider Digi International, and InStent, before it was acquired by Medtronic. Prior to joining InStent in 1995, Wehrwein spent 14 years in investment banking, including serving as managing director of Drexel Burnham Lambert, and Wessels, Arnold and Henderson. He began his career as a certified public accountant on the audit staff of Coopers & Lybrand.
Wehrwein is a member of the board of directors of five Twin Cities-based public companies: Compellent Technologies, Image Sensing Systems, Synovis Life Technologies, Uroplasty Inc. and Vital Images. He is a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago and earned his master’s degree in management in finance at the Sloan School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
